Highlight Formation

I realize the active formations can be sorted in various ways (TAB being one), but the simplest, most user friendly method would be to highlight all units along with the selection of the active counter. This is done best in games like WitE- the counter has either a color code behind the unit NATO symbol, or a color coded box around the counters from the higher parent unit.

For a game that demands a certain distance from the parent HQ, the GUI needs to deliver this info in a quick manner. I would hope that something can be done to make this easier to see in a quick, pleasing to look at method.

Or am I missing something?

You can use the hotkey "2", then click on an HQ to highlight his sub units.

If you're wondering why all the hexes are shaded red (on a small map), it's because that shows you the COMMAND RANGE of your HQs. Generally I only use the '2' hot-key to do a quick check where the bordering ranges are. I really would not want to over-step that by accident, and then realize I can't effectively carry out a combined assault after.
