Looks Good.

I am quite excited about this. I bought decisive campaigns which was good but lacked a bit of depth in my opinion. I have resisted buying War in the East partly due to the high price and partly because it seems a bit to in depth to me.Some people are never happy ! .I do not object to paying $50 for something which has taken thousands of hours to produce, but I am a bit worried about playing it twice and never playing it again. I am not one for reading manuals and I like learning as I go along, something which would be difficult with War in the East, I suspect. Not even a decent tutorial I am led to believe. I really enjoyed advanced tactics and played it to death when I was made redundant a couple of years ago. It was quite complex in some respects but easy to play at the same time. Strange names given to opponents made it a bit weird but the replay value was second to none. And now this which really looks quite awesome going off the screenies. A discount too cannot be bad. I purchased Empire Total War which is quite boring so I hope this will fill the gap. Hope it arrives sooner rather than later !

You can learn as you go in WitE. I have read the manual several times and still learn something new everyday.

Both games are fun, but as you mentioned WitE has a steep learning curve and does take time to grasp all the finer aspects, but the basics are quite easy, just as Texas_D mentioned. Read the AAR's and you will start to understand the depth of the game and you'll get a grasp of the fun of it.

AT is a lot easier compared to WitE, but stil has it's learning side. As regards the random games, yeah they are fun to play. I expect ATGold to be even more fun.

And I believe both games are worth every cent or pence.
