Initiative for support unit commitment
And IIRC admin & initiative rolls are taken for movement point allowances

Hmn.Thanks Cookie for the response. Then what does morale do? I was under the impression it gained you more movement points.
I pick Mech, Inf, and admin points as the top three ratings but can't seem to get a handle on morale and initiative.

Stuff from the manual....
If a unit retreats it suffers 1 point lost in morale, then a 2nd point if the leader fails a morale check ( this may be eliminated in the patch coming out? ).
"Units attacked by an interdiction air mission that lose more than nine MPs may lose one morale if random(100) is less than unit fatigue and the leader Morale rating check fails."

From the manual...
"The Morale leader rating is used for determining unit combat value in battle, determining won/
loss credit, adding or recovering fatigue in the unit’s ground elements, and rallying routed units."
"The Initiative leader rating is used for determining the actual number of movement points a
unit will have during the turn, the ability of ground elements to fire and to hit during combat,
the ability of support units and combat units in reserve status to commit to a battle, and the
ability to reduce casualties by turning a low odds hasty attack into a reconnaissance in force."
I choose high morale leaders when defending, specially if i plan not to have sufficient reserve units, hoping that the modification in combat value helps me in preventind retreat odds, added to the fatigue recovery bonus it seems quite useful for situations as german first winter, in my limited test substituting army group (abismal morale) and army leaders for germans seems to offer appreciable results

Morale for the Soviets and Initiative for the Germans during 1941.

I'd argue morale all the way. Morale is the big factor in determining whether you double your CV or not during combat, and that's the absolute most important thing for either side. I've seen this with my own experiences too, my low morale leaders are terribly bad about coming out with low CV results. I generally try to make sure I have my low morale leaders in the back mopping up pockets (where they aren't going to be facing high CV's anyway).

I was just mentioning what a leader's morale rating is used for. Not picking a choice. [;)]
