My mate and I both purchased this game with the intention of playing multilayer. When we finally got into a combat experience all we could do was auto resolve. Very very disappointed.

I take it you missed this post.

To be honest, though, given that the combat system is generally regarded as being the weakest part of the game, you're really not missing that much anyway.
