Is there any combat (+) using units of the same organization or any (-) using units of differing organizations in the same attack or defense?

The short answer is yes to both questions [;)]
A slightly longer answer is ...
If multiple units with a common HQ (Regiment or Division) are involved then the assault odds are calculated based on the sum of all units stats. In addition you are able to call on artillery support with a common HQ.
If the units have different HQs with no linkage, e.g. if different Reg HQs have different Div HQs or if there is a common Div HQ but one of the Reg HQs does not have command contact, then any assaults or defense actions are handled independent of each other.
