Trees and Sighting

I read in the manual that when the sighting rays hit a tree there is a -2 chance to spot units per tree hit.

Could someone explain how this works if we can use the 0 key and cycle through the amount of trees that are modeled?

As I read it, it seems if I reduce the amounts of trees that are displayed to the minimum using the 0 key, there would be less trees to hit and therefore a higher chance for me to spot enemy units.

I think the trees are still there, just not shown.

You are right, the option is useful to see better units, you cannot change the terrain for game purposes while playing.

Each tree has a chance to block the LOS.

You can turn the trees off in your view of the game to see the terrain better. This doesn't remove them from game play. Whether you see the trees, or not, the game sees them, and still calculates whether there is an LOS block for each tree.

Good Hunting.
