Modding xml files

In Kharkov it was easy. Now, even if you just change the speed of a tank 10 mph, it no longer shows up on the game map. And when I go back and change the speed to original speed, it still doesn't show up? What am I doing wrong?

What are you using to edit the file? I was using xml Notepad 2007 but seem to remember a problem after an update. I started using Notepad ++

#1 Before you make any xml changes save your xml file.
If it isn't working look very closely you may have nor made the xml correctly.
You should be able to just double click on an xml and if it works it will launch it in a MSE window.

Using Notepad ++. Also have Cooktop. Dumb of me not to make a backup.
When you get a chance, try it Junk, and see what happens to you.
Thanks guys.

First are you sure you are in the full game folder and not the demo?
I opened the ArmouredUnits folder, scrolled to the T26 model 39 (not the s model) and right click, then open with Notepad++
Under File I Save copy as... the original to My Documents. I changed speed from 115 to 155 then click the blue save button.
Start the tutorial as Soviets. Scroll the TOE and select the T26, spec shows 155/180. Start the battle and the T26s are there. Press S and the spec shows 155/180.

Yes, I'm in the main game. Same thing happened when I used Cooktop to edit. I do get the updated specs before the scenario starts, though. I just updated Notepad ++ now. Let me (carefully) mess around. But thanks Junk, for checking it out. As long as I know it's on my end--as usual!

Same here. Tried it within the scenario editor, which loaded Cooktop. Still no good. Lots to learn, so I will start playing the existing battles like most people are.

I think the process is pretty much the same as it was for PCK, though quite a few new attributes and tags have been added. If you upload or attach a sample of what you did we could take a look.
Thanks
Rick

rosseau,
If you upload the modified file that is causing problems for you, we can take a look and advise you on what might be causing the issue.
Regards,
- Erik

I appreciate the offer of help, Erik. Especially at such a busy time for you. Let's see if anyone else has modding issues, before we look at my problem. But here's a rundown:
I can directly edit Kharkov xml's with either latest version of Notepad++ or Cooktop with no problems at all. I really am not familiar with MSE's editing functions. In Ostfront, I have problems, even in the scenario editor, when not directly editing the xml myself.
So I am going to reinstall and see what other feedback we get. Then I'll send you one of my files in the tech support section, as needed.
Thanks!
