scenario versions

When I'm looking at the scenario descriptions it always includes information regarding which version of TOAW that it was designed for. Could someone explain to me how to interpret this information? For example, I know that 3.4 is the current version and can be used with all of the new rules, but what if the scenario was designed for earlier versions? Which versions make use of the new rules and which don't? When I'm playing an earlier version do I have to turn off some or all of the new rules before playing? Sorry if this is a confusing question but I'm trying to understand which options to turn on or off in the game when I play older versions. Also if someone could explain how playing a game made for older versions effects the gameplay it would be appreciated. Thanks

You want the scenarios made for TOAW III. Any version will do. Scenarios designed for COW will work, but perhaps not as designed.
If a scenario does not state it was designed for use with the new supply rules, i would switch that one off. As for the rest of the new rules, they probably change the dynamics of the scenario significantly, but at leas they don't break it.

Thanks for the quick reply. What's the earliest version that incorporates the new rules?

Rob, trust me, you DON'T want the earliest, you want the latest.....unless you haven't upgraded. Non upgrades go with what-ever they are, eh?
Presently, the use version you (hopefully) have is 3.4.0.202.......earlier versions have some but not all of the improvements. You might hit 'properties' on your short-cut to insure your up to speed.
rev .202 will run anything anyone has published so far.

Hi, Thanks for the info, I do have the most recent version of the game, 3.4.0.202. When I look at the scenarios that came with the game there's always a notation in the description which says which version of the game the scenario was designed for. Sometimes it's 3.4, sometimes it's 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, etc. My question is, which versions make use of the new rules? Does a scenario programed for ver. 3.0 make use of the same rules as one which is programmed for 3.4? If I play a scenario designed for an earlier version do I need to turn off some of the new rules to play the game as the designer intended?

3.4 introduced New Supply Rules and New Turn Order Rules. Don't use either of these unless the scenario description specifies it is ok to use them. All of the other versions/features are of little or no concern.

Thanks for all of the responses. One last question. Can I assume that any scenario designed for ver. 3.4 automatically uses the new Turn & Supply rules or only if it specifically states so in the Scenario Description?

My opinion is don't use either of these unless the scenario description specifies it is ok to use them. How else can you be sure?
