I couldn't find this anywhere in the manual. Is there a limit on how many military units can be put into a group? If not, what is an ideal group size and are there any benefits/disadvantages to a certain size group?

Probably obvious (except to me), but armor runs out of fuel/supplies quickly. If you stack it with infantry or cav, it can severely limit your movement.
