My custom shipsets

Hi everyone.
I was making shipsets for DW for quite some time now, mostly for myself. As it turns out, I’ve managed to gather a large number of ships and bases, some of which you might like (I hope ). Below I’ll post a couple of shipsets from various sci-fi genres and a really large heap of custom ships. All the ships were made by me, although I created most of them by simply editing various sci-fi art I found on the web. Other I just converted so they would be compatible with DW.


Here are some shipsets I consider worthy of sharing. To install any of the shipsets just unpack the files and place them in the appropriate directory in your Customization folder. For example “Matrix Games/Distant Worlds/Customization /My Theme/shipImages/family0/”.















Now the 110 ships I selected for uploading. Here are pics of 9 of them . They come in sets of 5-7 so with bases and civilian ships they would be a complete shipset. I use them as pirate ships for minorsets or majorsets. To use them, you’d have to copy the one you like to the appropriate folder in DW directory and rename them.



Feel free to edit any of the files and use them in your mods if you want. If anyone feels like he could create bases and other ships needed to create a complete shipset out of the above and use it in his mod, please do. I want to share this content so that people making mods for DW have more ship art to work with.

I finished working on the gundam shipset. The credit for the amazing ship models goes to modders from 9CCN (GUNDAM Seed mod for Homeworld 2). There were some problems with position lights on freigthers but now it should work just fine.

That's some good stuff right there. Many familiar looking ships in there. Will surely be using many of them.

Now, if somebody would do a shipset of Freespace 2 Humans, Shivans and Vasudans. That would be just dandy.

I actually have few Freespace Humans ships. Wanted to do all three races but I quickly forfeited this idea. Except for the evil alien race (forgot thier name) I find capital ships from that game to be a bit ugly (fighters and bombers are awesome though).

Freespace ships....is there something you don't have?

Plz, thanks! I've always thought that Freespace ships were supposed to be "semi-realistic". That's why they look militaristic, rugged and robust while still looking great. They really work best in 3D space TBH.
Anyway, upload them when you feel to it.

Freespace ships....is there something you don't have?

Like I said, I was creating that stuff for quite some time now. I never did Startrek races apart from the federation and one or two romulan ships (though I must say there are some pretty awesome startrek mods on this forum). The babylon 5 ships I did want to convert, but the resources I managed to find were of low resolution and wouldn't make good .png . Apart from that I think I have a little bit of everything. Sadly, not all is done well enough to be posted. If someone is intrested I have other stuff apart from ships I am happy to share ( race images [from mass effect among others], effects [weapons and such] and planet art).

Here are the race images I was mentioning earlier. First 19 are named race_xa/race_x so you can put them in your raceimages folder right away. The rest is named nextxa/nextx so you need to rename them if you want to use them. A word of warnig though, the numbered images were replacing my customized races, not the ones from the original game, so you might want to tweak your race.txt and bias.txt files first
