Just wondering if there is a way to change/edit the home system name. I see that I can change a lot of other names but haven't found an option for that. And would it do me any good to try to find a dwg viewer/editor to change it in the save game file?

You change it in the editor.

Well what is actually needed is to change the name of the Sun/Star in the system. The ingame editor only has the option to erase the existing star. I did not see a star name change option in the editor or in the various empire windows. I can change the planet and space port names, but not the star name.

Just go to the editor and double click on the star or any planet, moon, asteroid, whatever. After double-clicking, change the name in the edit box in the upper right corner.

Thanks for the info. Will give that a try when I start up the game again.

As for a save game editor there is none available, the only tool we have is the ingame editor.

In a nutshell to change the Systems name

Double click the Systems Star in the editor and change the name

To change any name double click the object

Some objects can be also done in game via the Ships and Bases screen
