Guys,
I need a little help with screen shots. Taking them is easy. The F8 works just fine. Accessing them in the screens folder is fine too. It is opening them that is a problem. I tried a search here and in Tech Support but didn't find anything that addressed this.

I have to right click the screen shot, use Open With, and Picture Viewer (which I think is Quick Time as it has a small Q in the box). Then I see the screen shot just fine. But, Paint doesn't recognize it. Might that be because it is a bmp file.

I am not familiar with the process of changing it to a jpeg or other type that will allow me to add commentary or the like through Paint like I used to do with other games.

Perhaps a walkthrough on how to manipulate the screen shots and how to make additions to them, as well as how to post them on the forum here would be helpful. I am not particularly tech savvy so any help here would be very much appreciated.

I can right click and open with... paint. Then change it to a jpeg. MR had a problem like yours but I don't remember what it was. It may have been bit depth on his screen settings.

Right clicking and trying to open with paint is verboten. It won't let me do it and notes it is a bmp file in the error message.

If I rename it to a jpeg file or something else that paint would recognize, does that screw things up?

That won't work.

If you right click your desktop and click properties, then the settings tab, what does it show for color quality?

Check your bit depth . Change it from 16 to 32 inthe configuration menu

If I am looking in the right place, monitor is running at true color 32 bit, not 16 bit.

If I right click on desktop, I don't see an option to look at properties, so I searched under computer for bit depth and ended up control panel>appearance>display>screen resolution.

Ach du lieber...okay, if I change from 16 to 32 in the options menu for the game, then the screen shots show up in the folder correctly, and I just opened it with paint and was able to make additions to it. Thanks guys.

Okay, now how do I post those onto this forum? Do I save them to photobucket or something similar. They still have to be saved as jpeg from paint, right? Some instruction on this will be appreciated.

Click the orange "post reply" button below the last post. At the bottom of the popup window will be a checkbox, Embed picture in post. Check it then click "click here to upload" and find your picture, etc.

Thanks, this actually worked. Now to figure out how to put together those AARs I did at The Scenario Depot II.

Irfanview is a nice "free" viewing program. I use it for lots of stuff.
Cropping, wallpapers, addy's, resizing and messing with colors and effects.

from the looks of your first screenshot, you do have an eye for capturing a battle moment. a possible "past life" war photographer.

He has done legendary screen shots for CMx1 reviews.

Yes, the infantry unit shown in the nearby building unloaded fausts at the KV. Distance was just under 25 meters. Most hit, probably stunning and damaging the tank, but finally their aim paid off and they got a turret hit which caused a massive explosion. Russian tankers were distracted by additional infantry directly ahead in the building hidden by the trees and by a Mark IV across a field to the left. The Mark IV didn't survive long.

The screen shots of the explosion were not saveable - sorry.
