Turn 1

Barbarossa opens. Objective: encircle as many Soviet units as possible. I don't drive my panzers too hard, they will outrun supply lines soon enough. I also go all-out on airfield bombing - I don't expect I'll ever bomb another airfield again for the rest of the war.

Resistance in the south was unexpectedly hard, and several infantry attacks were repulsed.

Manstein is a very methodical planner and knows the system very well.

You could have some problems in the south, since the pocket is not well formed, but otherwise encirclements look good

Turn 2

Pockets don't hold and we spend the week routing units.

AGC

Our main thrust is over the first river and even pockets some strong infantry units hiding in the swamps.

Where oh where have the panzers gone? Stay tuned.

Turn 3

AGN

The Soviets maintain an active forward defense. Despite giving low priority to this front I must admit the advance is slower than expected. However the panzer have not fought much and are at good strength and well fueled.

AGC

Doing well. Should be across the river near Gomel next week.

AGS

Breakthrough at weakest point. Nothing threathening so far, but should force a Soviet step back.

Turn 4, 7/10/1941

Advance continues on all fronts. Panzers corps still refuse to attack any strong units head on.

Finland

Advance resumes. Most Soviet units seem very weak, and the few that are strong are bypassed. The Pskov river line is probably heavily defended.

We're across the river and the infantry catches up. Near Smolensk the panzers carve a corridor for the infantry to walk into.

AGS

The Soviets take a step back.

Turn 5, 7/17/1941

AGN

AGN struggles on. At least we are fighting close to the railhead.

Advance goes well. A strongpoint is surrounded.

We receive multiple repulses trying to cross the second river. Hasty attacks are bad.
