Strategic Bombers:
Maybe I am not using them right, but I find them somewhat uneffective. I find it not always advantages to have enemy fighters constantly by their side...but with out fighter support, the bombers are oh so easy prey.
Is there some sort of strategy to using my bombers more effectively? Maybe I just haven't mastered the air part of the game as good as I would like.

I have not had that much success with them nuetralizing cities, no have I gotten long term suppression as often as I would like. I will agree that they are devasting to naval units.
I must have missed the stealing of prestige points when bombing objectives.
I shall endeavour to be better at it,,,Sir!

Neutralization is a random factor just like combat is due to the random generator.

Suppresion works rather well. It only lasts one battle though (and not the whole turn). So if you bomb a unit, and it has say 4 suppressed, after attacking that unit the suppression is no longer applied. You can check that out by looking at the unit strength numbers, the blue one is the suppressed number.

In my limited experience, strategically bombing an unoccupied city pretty much neutralizes it 100% of the time. Why do it? Your opponent will be unable to place new units in the city or its surrounding hexes. Nor will your opponent be able to use the city as an upgrade depot. Used this way, it's a really just an expensive alternative to garrisoning.
In my limited experience...

Another use for strat bombers is attacking AAA units.
Usually stat bombers take only a point or two of damage from most AAA.
Typically this would be after the AAA has been bombarded by arty.
The reason to do this is that AAA frequently has rather limited ammo, and in my experience, it only takes about 2 turns to completely zero it out thus neutralizing the AAA unit. [:)]

Someone already mentioned this but strat bombers work very well against naval units. I never sent my Stukas after ships because the flak will typically cream them.

I have not checked out level bombers yet in the current release, but I do remember there being a limit of only removing enemy ammo down to +1.

I think I just haven't utilized them as well as I would like or should. Need to spend some time studying the map better when I use them. I always seem to put them into jeopardy to enemy fighters.... Thanx for the input though...much appreciated.

I used them in Sealion'40 and effective against shipping. the ju88 especially. But against cities, the key is loosenign entenchment value.
