Turn 1

Soviet forces are completely unprepared for war and scramle to create the semblance of a frontline. To our delight German forces are diverted from AGC to AGS.

Northern fronts

Southern fronts

Looking good to me. I would try and exploit the shallow penetration by Axis west of Minsk by deploying sacrifice units in checkerboard. When I play Axis I am at minsk on Turn 1 and it's gone on Turn 2 and usually I am pressing into the gap near Smolensk by Turn 3. You have probably got the chance to slow this timetable down by at least 1 turn.

Turn 2

Industry evacuated from Mogilev and Armament from Gomel.

Northern Fronts

River near Pskov breached, but advance in the center is slow.

Southern Fronts

A very timid approach by the Axis forces in the area prompts a forward defense.

Turn 3

Axis advance cautiously. A couple of heroic infantry division hold against panzer attacks. Industry in Odessa along with some from Leningrad is evacuated.

Another heroic defense near Pskov.

Northern fronts

I don't give much priority to the defense of Leningrad, hoping simply to delay while I evacuate industry.

Southern fronts

A southern hook forces a withdrawal.

Turn 4

Most industry is evacuated from Leningrad. In the south we counter-attack, but it could have been much worse for the Germans if we had been smart enough to move more armor south last week.

Northern fronts

Germans are still halted at the river as we reinforce a potential bridgehead.

Southern fronts

The "great river line" is almost ready.

Looks good so far. Just keep evacing stuff. Pull out ARM and HVY pts first.

You have him on toast -- forward defence seems like a good idea now. I'd probably try keeping Leningrad too

Turn 5

Reorganisation starts. Each army will have 12 divisions and each front a minimum of 3 armies. Of course the real front is much more chaotic than that. Industry is evacuated in the south (and I think I may have made a mistake? I partially evacuated the T-34 factories and the rest of them disappeared?)

Yes, the tank factories require a total evacuation in a single turn. Any factory points not moved out that turn are lost. This differs from armaments and HI.

Oh well horrible loss there for the Soviets. I blame some random general from STAVKA who will be put on trial...

Turn 6

Every turn a small step back to avoid too many deliberate infantry attacks.
