I've played through Poland and Norway.
I'm getting ready to start Low countries. I'm wondering how much I gained from Norway. I got a decisive victory and I go into low countries with more than 2000 prestige banked. It's troubling that not a single unit has gain a hero yet or battle awared. Most units are at 1 star experience and I have perhaps 2-4 close to 2 star. The units in the extreme north of Norway did not gain much since the Royal Navy hit them pretty hard. In some cases I was not using elite replacements to save prestige. This degraded 1 unit from 1 star to about 50 exp.
I'm still a big fan of the original Panzer general SSI. I really wish there had been more scenarios than what we have here. It feels like I'm playing the old Panzer General with less options in terms of scenarios. There is no N Africa campaign like in the old. And overall fewer than you had in the original.

I think I understand what you mean. I feel a lack of scenarios too. Currently I am working on recreating some of the missing scenarios (mainly the missing scenarios of the eastern front, not N. Africa) and adding them into the main campaign.
If I am successful I will post it here on the forums.

I'd like to add my impressions - as this is an impressions thread rather than start a new one.
I'm the same as the OP - done the tutorials, Poland and just this minute finished Norway. He has 2000 Prestige banked and I have 200. I regularly upgrade my un9its (though to keep them upgraded, I had to use recruits for most of them!). So I have very little prestige and reducing the quality of my troops. I see people getting decisive victories and I'm wondering how they managed it. I'm playing on the default difficulty (Captain?)
This isn't whinging though. I like the game ALOT. I'm surprised because I just didn't think I could go back to Panzer General...but it's been great fun.
It's difficult. I've tried bypassing little cities and going for the scenario winners - but that makes it tough because the AI pulls troops away from those minors. So I think the AI does a decent job so far. It knows I'm bypassing and goes to help the objective cities.
Great game. Tough game. Bug free so far. No crashes. Quality art. Great gameplay. Can't fault it.
Well done Matrix, Slitherine and whoever else was involved (testers included).

i got decisive all the way through sealion on the hardest difficulty, often with one to two turns to spare
the key is dont upgrade your units just because they can upgrade, the less expensive your units are the cheaper it is to buy replacements, 10.5cm art works fine no need for upgrading, planes are too expensive, use a few fighters and thats it, use more artillery use lots of infantry, put elites in a few units that are your elite to smash through the toughest nuts, the rest just use regular replacements, max out your units on the battlefield with cheap units preferably, a few elites for special jobs, push fast and hard overwhelm the enmy at the start and destroy his units his defense will collapse and get through the gaps, also use auxilaires to distract the enemy and put them in the lead to preserve your cores
a prestige saved is a prestige earned, make sure your elites are well protected from counter attack, dont leave them exposed its very painful to loose your best unit youve been grooming, let the regulars take the lead and attack with you eleites
ohh also the cheap stukas are good units to use to support your advance too, just dont get too attached to them they die like flies, but its okay their cheap just use regular replacements

I'm about ready to re-start the Low Countries/France battle in my campaign for the third time. I'm gonna try your advice and see how things turn out.
It may not overcome my poor generalship though [:)]

I looked at it again and had like 1700 prestige. In some cases I added normal replacements instead of elite ones and I only upgrade the Panzers to the IIIf version.

I can't do that - it's just not right!

I defo do not feel morally able to do such a thing - even in a game!
Meant to say - if aything - I go the opposite route - send my elites in first to take the hit because they can take the hit!
I know the sensible thing to do is to send the refulars to "dilute" the entrenchment...but I just can't do it. What can I say - I got to L/Cpl in 5 years of service! I am too moral to lead!
