Installation went flawlessly once I could stay connected long enough for the DL to complete(4G WiFi hotspot).
Since my son and I are avid players of the old series, is it possible for us to play on one CPU, taking turns against each other without using the server(not being on line). Can we do this on line?
How about if I want to examine the dynamics of each side, play against myself? I found this is the best way to really test a game using multiple strategies and tactics and expose game flaws(beta testing).

Yes, choose hotseat to play the game alone.
To play hot seat online... the only way is to use the server.
Welcome!
don't forget to read the manual and then re-read it.
You are lucky to have a player that can move when you do..

Thanks Razz, but I didn't see that option to choose, "Hotseat", only multi-player, perhaps I just missed it in my hurry to get out the door for work. I only got to check whether the game mechanics were working properly while downing a bowl of granola.
So ... I have to use the server, access the internet, to play hotseat? I sure hope not, I go places with my laptop where there is no internet.

No, you can play hot seat alone on any PC, however if you want to communicate hotseat over the internet you must use the server.
Like you said Hotseat is one way to test play new maps.

Select a scenario. It asks you to choose sides.
Axis, Allies or Hotseat!
