For reasons wholly unclear to me - after executing turn 1 as Japan I looked at ship availability
(which is not visible before turn 2) - and discovered Yamato appears in MAY 1942.

So I checked other ships. Most appear on their commissioning date. A few Japanese carriers
appear 2 or 3 days before that!

Japanese "seaplane tenders" did not get their German Hein Mat conversions in the late 1930s -
so are incorrectly not rated as seaplane carriers (See Warships of the Imperial Japanese Navy
which describes the re-rating and why] And one is missing. Well - not the right kind of ship.
Notoro starts the war as a tanker - she reconverted to tanker form at the end of 1942.

Battleship No. 1 is completed and registered (commissioned) as the YAMATO in the Kure Naval District. Captain Takayanagi is the Commanding Officer.

BUT

Yamato's TROM says 27/5/42  YAMATO is deemed operational

If it arrived as Sid says it would have really poor crew ratings.

I will add though that many ship arrivals dates and locations of RAN units were pretty bad(Scen 1 & 2), I hope they get fixed and other navies are not similar.

Sigh..... The last thread asking this exact question was on 25th June 2011.

JeffK perhaps if I put some of this in perspective when it comes to locations and arrival dates. Last night I was excited to find in a book that there were sunderlands in the pacific in 1941. I love sunderlands so I was all set to add the squadron to the DB. Then I went to another book and found that yes the squadron in question was in the pacific, and did get sunderlands, right after they left for the Med. It reminded me that you have to look at several sources before you can say if a unit was in a certain location at a certain time. It is too easy to look at one source and believe it to be the absolute truth. I really do believe that the guys that put this together spent far more man hours than either of us ever have, checking and cross checking their information. Doesn't mean it can't be questioned but just make sure that you have done due diligence and looked at many sources before you do.

maybe your comment should go to whoever had ships arriving 18 mths before their commisioning date, check out the database against places like the RAN Histories and see if they align

I am not saying your wrong in bringing up your concerns, or that what you are stating is not factual. I just hoped you had done your home work first. Too many times there are concerns that are unfounded.
