Dumb question. What happens to a core unit

If it is eliminated? Couldn't find that in the rules and I am just getting ready to start my first campaign. What happens when you rebuild and refit and upgrade and all that between scenarios? Do you lose that core slot permanently? Thanks.

Unit is lost permanently, but the slot if freed and you can buy a brand new unit to replace the lost one.

OK, since this is the "dumb questions" thread, how do we change the name of the units?

Select unit - Alt+N - enter new name.

Okay, dumb followup.  The slot is free.  Does the new unit you buy become a core unit or simply another unit slot that you can add for each scenario?  Thanks again.

Great game btw.  Lots of fun.  I realize I'll be alternating between WITE and PC for a while.  It is like the difference between reading a history book and reading a novel.  Both are great in different ways.  Thanks Matrix.

Your core army can be of any size. But each map has a number of core slots - number of core units that can be deployed on it. If a core unit is killed, one slot on the map is freed, and you can deploy one more core unit instead of it. You can purchase a new one, or take existing unit from reserve.

Thanks.  I see I kind of glossed over all this and will take a close look before I start my campaign.

Thanks for the quick reply, how many characters are we allowed in the custom name of a unit and please explain how the "reserve" of units works.

Max name length is 20 characters.

Any units in your core army which are not deployed on the map stay in reserve. You can see them (and deploy if there are any free slots on the map) using the Toggle Reserve List button.

Can deployment happen at any (one turned controlled) city hex or just on the original deployment hexes......I know....I can check that, but I'm not at home playing, working currently for the next few hours.  How else am I going to get further releases of PC![8D]

Newly purchased units can be deployed in any city which you hold for more than 2 turns. Reserve units can only go to the original deployment hexes.
