OK, I have to ask...how do you get the shadows to show up correctly for the units? I'm going to try my hand at revamping the infantry units.

Hi Gary,
First - I think your unit example need darker light effect in poser - looks to brightly.

I work with poser-7, Gimp-2 and amimation shop-3.

1. render your units with poser (please with 3 different soldier poses in the same light effect (old sandris CIV3 light its good) and size like the original !!!)

2. Take your 4 renderings out and produce the same positions like the original game pngs. (I use paint)

3. Produce the shadows manually with paint in the same grey like the originals)

4. Now you can take only this shadows (You must cut the shadows from the figure) with GIMP-2 and produce the transparency.

5. Take your Figure (without shadows !!) and produce the transparency around the figure with animation shop 3.

6. Now you can build up the shadow.png and the Figure.png together with animation shop 3.

7. Save the new png with your new name. Ready !

Now it looks like the original !

Many thanks. As far as unit size, I intend on making my infantry units a little larger than the originals so they have more detail. I don't see much point in doing new units if they are going to be exactly like the stock units. I plan on creating a full set so there won't be a need to match.

Another project I am considering is to create some individual soldiers which others can cut and paste, mix and match to create their own configurations.

Sounds good - Do you like to work with me on some special units - like bicycle or motorcycle units. We need many more clothings/uniforms/weapons for france 1940 and many different soviet units.

BTW - to big units looks bad ! I like the original size - the size Distance is to big between Infantry and vehicle graphics !
