HI all!

I am new to the game and really like alot of the mods that are here.

I am sure that how to install them safely was addressed a long time ago.

But I am afraid I might do something wrong and mess up my original files.

I am going to try and start out with my favorite one I have seen so far - and that is redmarkus's town name mod (with hexes).

Could someone please be so kind as to safely

1) point me to the best link to download the town names (with hexes, factories, sea lanes)

2) give me piece of mind by telling me what to back-up in case of user (me!) error.

3) tell me which directories to exract these files into.

Thanks in advance for the help. I really love this game., I am learning ti fast (being an OLD veteran of many computer wargames.

When I saw redmarkus's name place mod (i just about creamed my pants!!)

My Mods include changes to the Zoom 4 (adds port icons) and Zoom 5 (shows Dec '41 front line) files as well. The same process applies. Backup those folders (make a copy and save it somewhere else, like a folder on your desktop) and then paste the downloaded and extracted files.

You can find the Mods here: http://witewiki.com/index.php?title=Mods kindly hosted by Cookie Monster

You can't really break the game with these files. The worst thing that you can do is to put them in the wrong folder, which should just mean that they don't show up on the game map. I wouldn't expect the game to stop functioning (but I'm not responsible if it does!)

To be doubly safe, make a backup of your save game folder before you do anything else. (You can find it here on your PC if you did a standard install: C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East\Dat\save). Then, if you have a complete disaster with the Mod (unlikely) you can always re install the game and put the save game files back in place afterwards.
