HELP! I am the silliest WiTE player ever

Playing against Baelfin's Russians ( not an easy or stress-free task) I was doing reasonably well in 41 (3.3M russian casualties, 44HI 82 arms and 18 vehicle factories lost so reckon I had done well wnough to hold on for a long game) with 1 more snow turn left to polish off an isolated Rostov and activate AGs A+B whilst trusty allies manned my east flank. Plent of room for fighting retreat back to Donbas cities

Opened my last snow turn to find it was blizzard and I'm screwed. I lack IT skill to post picture but Baelfin may be able to when he gets the turn back.

Having truly lived up to my name I call upon the forum to help. Seems I have 4 options

1 As it's my game create new house rule no attacks or advances allowed in 1st blizzard turn. B will then ignore this new 'rule'. I can then resign on a point of principle saying I don't play with people who break house rules

2 I disappear, get new forum identity and stop giving opponents home email address

3 Persuade B that there is neither pleasure nor honour in playing someone so profoundly lacking in intelligence as me so he must resign. I expect I will need some peer-pressure on him from other forum members for this please

4 Persuade a judge I'm mentally incapable of running my own affairs, have him declare me a Vulnerable Adult, and have my court appointed guardian take my internet access away.

My current preference is option 3 followed by 1 but obviously I'm too thick to make any decisions. All advice/alternative plans much appreciated

If you're playing a random weather game, and it is prior to December 1941, then Blizzard weather will only affect you in terms of MPs, and terrain effects. If you misjudged what turn it is, and it is now December, then you may be in for a beating. Otherwise, soldier on, take the towns you need for the A/B split, hold them through any Soviet counterattack, then run like hell your next turn...

I think you need to hold them, not just "turn them all pending Axis". I had one of the 4 (Azov?) just pending as I moved a unit in then out ( to run!) and the game did not release Army Groups A and B as advertised.

He's silly too

If he had pretended some sympathy I would have repeated my mistake against him. Not now!

What is even more entertaining is that I was dropping leaflets over the german lines telling them how exposed they were on the november 20th turn [:D]

Not having seen the turn yet I can only speculate what it looks like, but the red army down there isnt all that powerfull, I have been hanging on by my fingernails the entire game.

Here is what all of the moaning is about ...... :hums the benny hill theme:

Pull all your units back to Poland. Pretend none of this happened. If pressed, mention how your army got lost on the way to a football match. After he buys your excuse, invade Romania to regain your esprit de corps, then surrender and get Lend Lease shipments.

You can always petition GG for a 'I Win the Game' button, although you'll have to get in the queue [:D]

Finally, a sensible response that meets my needs. You are clearly a man after my own heart.
What do I have to do to trigger the Marshall Plan?

Another thread has given me the best idea. I have turned myself into a spambot so Matrix will cancel my account which will mean I can't play any more

You should do as I'm doing and get your wife involved and put any blame on her if you mess up [:D]

I like the spambot idea.  So maybe you were the one that changed the WiTE wiki page?  www.witewiki.com

Say you don't play the game to win by the officially santioned victory thresholds but rather to improve your play.

Say instead you measure your performance by self imposed criteria which are much more objective and rigorous than the arbitrary victory criteria put in place by the developers. According to your standards, you have already "won" and continuing this match is of no value to you as it will not further improve your play. Then magnanimously offer your opponent a restart so that he can improve his play. Offer to assist him in determining his appropriate goals.

This is excellent [&o], and even works with allowing him to play on.

It would simply be a piece of total selflessness on my part to continue to move my cardboard around in a random and selfless way, or even positively to help him achieve his own goals. I could then also send him a modest bill for the cost of my time from now on as I'm no longer 'playing the game' as such but to help him to learn new skills and to achieve personal happiness. Baelfin has a background in management IIRC so he will appreciate both the wisdom of your idea and my generosity.

In reality, you are too focused on scale here, Sillyflower. What you need to do is remember geological timeframes. You can ponder your next turn for a good long while (say 200,000 years) and it won't matter much in the long run. In fact, you are allowing this slower (and therefore more observable) change to take place at a more natural rate. In the end, you are helping out everyone here.

Good point. I will probably reply in about only 100 years as I don't quite have your patience.

Wouldn't this be somewhat incompatible with the almost pro bono work you envisaged in post #17.

Presumably the billing rate would be in 6 minute increments (or would it be in 6 turn increments) but at very modest charges, perhaps only in single teeth/finger knuckle currency per billed increment. Frankly that would be pro bono territory. Afterall, the benefits which your opponent would receive from mentoring would be priceless.

However, if you were to only reply each century, the natural order of things would be shattered. Partners would be shocked at the lack of proper billing weight; non-vintage champagne neigh cava would have to be substituted for a nice 1996 vintage Pol Roger (in honour of Winnie otherwise Dom or Krug, we don't deal with such vulgar product as Crystal). More importantly your mentoring would, on principle, be dismissed by your opponent as obviously not worth much. Also how could you reasonably expect your opponent to retain, for taxation deduction claims purpopses, records for up to 100 years. Certainly Her Majesty's government would have some difficulty in verifying the validity of any such claims lodged.

No, on balance I do believe you wouldnot have your client's best interests, nor your own, were you to deviate from the time honoured billing standards.
