it is likely that we see an editor in the near future ?

I'd say - see Advanced Tactics Gold for the editor. AFAIK, the DC series were always going to be hand crafted history soaked campaigns tweaked for events and realistic OOB's - its a wargame experience. ATG is a veritable Wargame Construction Engine. If you want to build your own unique scenarios, I'd say go to ATG, thats one of its primary uses - its been designed that way.
