Edit on 2011.08.17 - original map rebuilt with a modified tile.
Edit on 2011.08.17 - "Jello" version map link removed. RIP.
Gentlemen,
I wanted to try a summer map with summer stuff. I created a steppe map for early summer when everything is green. I experimented again with the grass system.
For a summer scenario design it is very much worth analyzing the Novy scenario I copied the tall grass solution.

Any feedback is most welcome.

Did you forget the sky? Nice use of grass and such. Natural looking map.
This should be a popular random battle map.

Upps I did...
I made this map pretty fast drawing the terrain map and adding trees was ready within 2-3 hours. Then I had to experiment a LOT with the existing textures they just did not feel right.
If you are interested I can build a more CMBN like map with stronger colors. that may be beautiful but not very natural. To map maker you HAVE to add more textures both in quantity and them being able to be used as tiles and with a high resolution IMHO. I am not a graphics artist so I struggled a lot making some new tiles. The one I use now is my own and like it better but it is not perfect so I would need a better one with the same color tone but more suitable for tile.
Then I experimented again with grass. Finally I just copied the solution of Novy.

The new version is too much like kool aid or Jello for my taste.

American brand names for a drink mix and a flavoured gelatin dessert mix. Lime flavour in this case.

OK. [:D]
So I assume you vote on the original one. Let us see what others think.

I prefer the original one, but I modify the megatexture (with The Gimp) working on the color balance (level yellow-blue -10), luminosity -15 and saturation -5 and now the map looks more natural.

Szartur,
When you get your texture tile the way you want it, you can add your own textures to Map Maker, so they can be selectable. I don't think the process is documented though. If you attach your final, I can try to do that and then post the instructions. But I don't think I can do that until after the final patch is released.
Thanks
rick

I created some textures on my own and copied them into map maker texture folders. What skill I am lacking is the creation of tiles and graphic textures in general. I am not an artist. Once the texture .bmp files are created I can make them selectable though [:)].

Sure, here is it! Give it a try, it could be not perfectly balanced, sometimes it is necessary to do some test before to find the right compromise.

You will need to copy the entire map folder to the Media folder, and the scenario file will need to be placed in the Data\Scenarios folder.
If you use JSGME, I think junk2drive made a JSGME mod that puts things where they need to go.
Thanks

Added new version built with the tile modified by JMass.
The map should be reasonably final.

I did exactly what you said with copying the entire map folder to Media and the map scene xml to Scenarios folder. But I get a crash when starting any random campaign with these three maps installed, puszta1, steepe1 and szajol? I know this because after I delete the scene files from the Scenarios folder my random campaigns work fine. I still have the three map folders in my Media folder though.

map scene xml is not the scenario xml.
