Why are Canadians being charged more than Americans?

The CAD is worth more than the USD and has been for a long time.

http://www.xe.com/

1.00 USD = 0.981886 CAD
1.00 CAD = 1.01811 USD

Why are you charging Canadians $41.99 CAD and Americans $39.99 USD?

Is this a service fee for doing the conversion?

I'm a Canadian too and I usually buy from Slitherine rather than Matrix because of this pricing differential.

As to why the differential exists I haven't a clue but there can't be a good reason for it.

Hehe...the CAD took a drop and Matrixgames was quick to bump the price up $2.00. But you watch, when the CAD rises again, which it will soon, they will take forever to adjust the price accordingly.

Prices for some time have automatically and dynamically adjusted (I think on a daily basis). It's one of the features we get from the Plimus system. This means you didn't notice when you were benefiting, only when you lost out ;)

Todays rate is $1.00 USD = $00.99.42 CAD but the price is still $39.99 USD compared to $42.99 CAD. I rest my case your honour. :)

Yeah, the Aussie $ is buying $1.036 USD but we have to pay more as well?

The exchange rate is completely transaprent to us - we dont see and are not able to adjust it. Bear in mind the quoted rate is the rate people actually pay, just a mid ratem, and your payment processor may be adding the extra charges.

I would be better off paying in USD and living with my banks charges, prices I'm seeing are on the Matriz website so they are taking the first bite THEN you add extra charges.

If I buy books from the US I see the USD price, I then work out whether the exchange rate makes it worthwhile.

Just another of a million little things to make Matrix a better experience.

Doesn't sound transparent to me. And if both Matrix and Slitherine use Plimus, why the discrepancy?

This has nothing to do with exchange rate or bank service charges. Matrixgames is simply charging Canadians $3.00 more for the base game and $2.00 more for the add-ons to FoG.

Oh yea, I will actually buy FoG now that Xmas sale is on but can't make up my mind if I should get one add-on too or not at the same time. HPS Greek Wars that I bought is ok but not really my cup of tea. I like to tell my units who and when to attack and not just move them about the map and let the computer handle combat. The UI is a bit of a mess in Greek wars too IMO. FoG could have, and should have, done better on the graphics though. It amazes me that my old Talonsoft Battleground games have better IQ than many of today's wargames.
