Look at the cost of this transfer.

Before you transfer the unit, move it towards the transporting HQ! Plan Strategic Transfer before moving units.

If you first have moved the unit towards the destination hex and then made the strategic transfer you would have paid more than on the first image! (Damn, I'm sure I wrote it using incorrect grammar.)

Since you use the trucks/trains in the transporting HQ it will cost you more the longer away from that HQ you are, even if it means they are closer to the final destination. The trucks go from Paris to the unit and back and then from Paris to the destination (and back again).

The strategic transfer cost has 2 factors:

- the cost of moving the unit to the hexe where is the HQ that provides de transport,
- the cost of moving the unit from the hexe of the HQ to the hexe of destination.

That's the reason because the cost goes down on the example, when you approach the unit to de HQ you are lowering the first factor, but the 2nd remains the same.

Kind regards,
Rander.
