I captured Baku..... etc.... this should have a dramatic effect on fuel for the Soviets & with time for the Germans..... anybody know if how this has been modelled?

Thx

Good question. What are the short and long term effects on Soviet production and fuel supply when the Axis succeed in destroying the oil field facilties and refinement facilities in and around Baku?? Inquiring minds want to know.

It should have very big impact on current fuel/oil production. However it may not have immediate impact due to the existing stores.

Too bad that capturing Baku (and cutting the north) doesn't reduce Lend-Lease shipments to USSR.

I destroyed 100% of oil and fuel production in Bucharest and Ploesti by Turn 8, and long-rage bombed synthetic factories. My opponent didn't notice this until spring 42, when I pointed out the Russian Paratroopers sitting in Ploesti. I began to think there was a bug and we were seeing different maps. He just hadn't had a reason to view that part of the map. He suffered no ill effects, or gas shortages, or loss of MPs. I then decided that oil and gas play no part in game if 50% of the production is gone for six months without effect :) As a courtesy he sent his production screens.

With all modifiers Ploesti is way lower than 50%. Most of crude oil was consumed by navy and making lubricants. LW and Wehrmacht were much more dependent on the synthetic fuel.

Ah the dreaded modifiers of the raw data :) Those IL-4 crews will be happy to know that future death-rides-to-Ploesti have been scrubbed. Should the fanstasy of winning the war by destroying Baku be dropped as well?
