Hi Folks,

VS AI, normal options, 8 Dec scenario.

No cheats, hacks or scams. It turns out that US carriers based out of Java are invisible to the Japanese AI. The AI kept throwing invasion fleets into the Java Sea without sufficient carrier escort and they sank and sank and sank. In less than 90 days the Japanese AI lost 460 ships: 2 CV/CVL, 1 CVE, 2 BB, 3 CA, 4 CL, 19 DD, 3 TB, 3 E, 4 PC, 42 PB, 12 SC, 9 AMC, 6 CM, 1 DMS, 1 AG, 3 APD, 1 LSD, 7 AK, 6 TK, 40 xAP, 242 xAK and 50 xAKL. Java is an unsinkable aircraft carrier with about 40 squadrons of aircraft. The nearby IJ airbases are kept beaten down by 7 full squadrons of heavy bombers. It's rather disappointing that the AI hasn't gotten any better since the original PW in '95 (?) and I'm going to have to quit this scenario.

Are there options that will fix the problem of invisible US carriers? Or at least give the IJ AI a fighting chance?

Cheers,
Guy

Bullwinkle, who seems strangely silent of late, once recommended that you let the AI duke it out with itself for several months or a year and then take over as the Allies. Do it in Scenario 10 for an even fairer fight. You could set it on continuous turns before turning in and then check it out when you wake up (I think you have to hit F9 or F10 to stop the continuous play). I had a reasonably satisfying game doing it that way.

I guess the other option is to play your best and see how quickly you could take Tokyo. Maybe you could take it by Dec. 7, 1942.

Cheers,
CC

Work out if you want to beat the computer or play a game against it

Play against the AI with 1 hand behind your back and both legs cobbled together for 12 mths.
Pay all PP charges

I am in dec44 scen2 on hard, I let the AI go for 12 mths, only holding my outer perimeter Canton, Paga Pago Suva and fell back to India. i did fight for Kuala Lumpurand held malaya until March 42.

Then I counterattacked, had massive air battles in Burma (AI would sweep with over 400 fighters, the air war here probably saw 2-3000 aircraft lost), it took 12 mths to clear Burma, 6+ to clear Siam and only in mid 44 did I find the crumbling easier.

In Aug 44 I had a CV raid on my barely defended sealanes between PH & SF, it was only 2 CVL but caused much angst.

I'm now going through The Phillipines and scraping every escort I can to cover against the B52 ranged Emily Kamikaze's.   1 hit and you are dead. (CVE have a big magnet on them).

You can have a fun game, I like to try odd strategies, if you think you have discovered a loophole, I allow 1 exploitation then back off. i'm not giving the AI any freebies but dont want to thrash it.
