The perfect game

What I would really like is a game about WWII that covers both the european and pacific theatres that includes a strong emphsis on the economic side. Gary Grigsby's "A world divided" was very close but it had one major problem....the games became predictable once the axis side realized there were only 2 or 3 military strategies that gave them a chance to win....our perfect game would have many more posibilities...perhaps via allowing different alliances to form form or via Germany being able to develop a more potent U-boat force or a large force of long range bombers. This is where the economic side comes in....Germany spends resources on R&D early.....the Allies won't realize this untill they start losing merchant ships right and left or England's factories are all ablaze....both sides are kept guessing...what's the other guy up to? The Allies might have the ability to buy Japan off...something like giving them access to cheap oil in Indonesia if they stay neutral untill the west has dealt with Hitler. Will Japan double cross the west...take the oil...develop a large industial base by building modern aircraft and artillary factories and then while the west is tied down doing a D-day...use all those modern freshly made planes and artillary pieces conquering India and Australia. Give both sides lots of options in how they use their resourses...either spend them on research or building armies and fleets..or enlarging the economy by building factories or even bribing other counties....Perhaps also make of the game framework on a more detailed scale...Grigsby's units were whole armies and fleets as one counter. How about at corps level? We would have about a three fold increase in number of units.... Is there much interest in a game along these lines???

Maybe "Making History 2" is for you. Sounds like that to me at least. I don't know if there is a demo for it, but I believe you can ally with other countries that historically were enemies. I have played a few games as the US and was at war with Russia at some point.

The economy is a large part of it too. I found that part to be the hardest to get a handle on at 1st.

Sounds a lot like Advanced Tactics Gold.

Thanks,I'll check it out. Grigsby's game sure was a masterpiece except for the poor replay value.
