The Math behind loading / unloading

I'm a bit confused about the math behind the loading / unloading process.

For example, I have a 8 xAK TF docked at Sydney in the Guadalcanal scenario on Turn 1.

Port size 8 x 100 -> 800 / 12 hrs
Naval Support 9 x 10 -> 90 / 12 hrs
--> That's a total of 1600 + 180 / day --> 1780 / ship (?) --> 1780 x 8 Ships = 14240 Cargo per day.

Obviously I'm missing something here (or I'm totally off :D) because in the beginning of Turn 2 the screen shows 34758 cargo on my TF.

EDIT: Now, one of those xAK also loaded 500 Fuel, so I set up another 8 xAK TF in Turn 1. This time only Cargo Vessels, no Fuel. The new cargo load after 1 Turn is 32669.

Can someone please crunch the numbers on that one and explain it to me?

Believe that is going to be a per ship total per day. You can load multiple ships at one time in major ports.

Believe that is going to be a per ship total per day. You can load multiple ships at one time in major ports.

But I already factored that in, didn't I? The total per ship per 12 hrs should be (port size x 100 + naval support * 10), so that times 2 = per day per ship. I took that (1780 for Sydney) and multiplied by 8 Ships -> 14240.

Some piece if missing here :p

But I already factored that in, didn't I? The total per ship per 12 hrs should be (port size x 100 + naval support * 10), so that times 2 = per day per ship. I took that (1780 for Sydney) and multiplied by 8 Ships -> 14240.

Some piece if missing here :p

Probably some modifier based on port size we don't see. Without knowledge of the code, no way to tell really.

Where are you getting the 100 in your port rating above ? That looks way low. Ports can load / unload increasing amounts according to their size. I believe there is a chart in the manual covering this.

Where are you getting the 100 in your port rating above ? That looks way low. Ports can load / unload increasing amounts according to their size. I believe there is a chart in the manual covering this.

That chart you mention is where I got it from.
Cargo. Generally equipment and supplies loaded at a specific
rate for packaged, palletized, and “large loose” items
(tanks, etc) rate. The Cargo Rate is 100 x (Port Size)

The chart is on page 125/126. The rates are for a 12 hrs timeframe, so port size 8 gets 8x100 / 12 hours per ship which is also reflected like that in the chart.

By "turn 1" are you just starting a scenario? I ask because there is a loading/unloading bonus on the first turn of any scenario.

Also, I believe there are 3 loading/unloading phases a turn.

Hehe, thanks. Indeed -> Turn 1 bonus is what's happening here. When I start loading in turn 2 I get a result of 14240 for the beginning of turn 3 as expected with the formula:

(port size * 100 + naval support * 10) * 2 twelve hour cycles * number of ships
Sydney -> (8 * 100 + 9 * 10) * 2 * 8 -> 14240 :)
