Funny you posted this, I listen to "the forties" (bootleg copy) swing when I'm doing the mundane chores of supply convoys and sub patrols. There is something about period music that enhances the game. cool post.

I love Glenn Miller, I think I might have every song released by him and his band.   This might be my favorite tune by the band  Moonlight Serenade and a super video as well.

It's hard to beat Moonlight Serenade. Other favorites of mine are Perfidia, Chattanooga Choo Choo (for some reason I cannot explain, it actually brings tears to my eyes), and the one I posted the link to, American Patrol.

The Glenn Miller Band will be in concert at Clayton State Universitty, near Atlanta, Georgia, in January. Tickets are pretty hefty to my way of thinking ($40-ish), which to this point has prevented me from taking my wife. But that might make a pretty good "Georgia AE Convocation" - dinner at a restaurant in the area followed by the Glenn Miller Band concert.

I got most of mine through the iTunes store. Including whole albums. I first fell in love with Big Band music from watching the old war movies of the 50's and 60's. And Abbott $ Costello had the Andrew Sisters in their movies several times.

Those are the most comprehensive clips I’ve seen yet of that action. Dad was aboard when those hits were made. When I was 5 years old he told me about 3 direct hits when he was on the Enterprise. It’s quite interesting to see the action on video nowadays. He said he saw orange from the concussion because he was close to the blast behind the island. He’d flown the morning search then wished he’d volunteered for the afternoon patrol instead of being aboard during the attack. I’ve probably told you that he saw the bodies at the 5” gun emplacement with their clothes blown off from the blast."

Actually, yes! .... because I'm playing the last official patch in which search arcs were broken. So, I don't even have to set ANY search arcs. I like that!
