I am just curious cause I work in a job that causes me to meet many persons from around the world. I don't want to offend someone inadvertently.

Do persons from New Zealand consider the term "KIWI", if applied to themselves by someone else, a derogatory term or demeaning term?

They all have thick skins,

One thing I forgot to mention is rugby. If you can talk rugby intelligently with a Kiwi, he will instantly take a liking to you. It's really that easy.

It's impossible to talk intelligently with a Kiwi about Rugby. You can argue rugby with a Kiwi though.

A former Prime Minister of New Zealand used to have a great line about 3 decades ago. He was all in favour of continued migration of New Zealanders to Australia. he used to say that such migration raised the average IQ level of both countries.[:)]

Have sailed on many boats from down there. Lots with mixed crews. Whenever I asked someone, who was a New Zealander, where he was from he would say 'I'm a Kiwi'. The most fun I have ever had on a boat race is when a Kiwi or a 'Stryne was on board.

I've had a number of professors whilest in college and current co-workers that were Kiwis or Aussies. Good blokes, by and large. Personally, I most enjoy when the two of them are around one another for the outstanding repartee. Good stuff! [:D]

In my systemic pathology class some years back, our two course co-ordinators were an Australian and a Kiwi. They lost no time in taking shots at one another:

From our Aussie prof.:

Q: How can you tell the difference between an Aussie and a Kiwi by the accent?
A: It's easy. Ask them to pronounce the number that comes after five. The Aussie will pronounce it like "sex". The Kiwi can't count that high.

From our Kiwi prof.:

Q: What's the difference between Yogurt and Australia?
A. With yogurt, you've got a living culture. [:D]

So now we get ot the yanqui joke book, I think they call it a constitution.

Only problem with New Zealand is the bad ones got transported to Bondi Beach.

Thing is, all of us really like you guys. And the jokes we tell are just repetitions from Aussies about EnZeds, or EnZeds about Aussies. We don't mean anything by it. For my part, if anything I have said could be construed as offensive, I sincerely apologize. Don't know what it could be, but you guys got your own rules, so I should comply.

Same with us.

It's really quite simple. New Zealand is the second best country on earth. Fact [;)]. If I wasn't English I would be proud to be a Kiwi. The Kiwi's performance in WWII was quite simply the dogs dangly bits [&o]; 2nd New Zealand Division [&o][&o].

Now Kiwi's do us a favour; beat the Aussies in the Semis and, whatever happens, make sure you beat the French or the Welsh in the RWC final.....PLEASE! DO NOT **** IT UP AGAIN!!

Went to a place called Gemstone Beach on the southern tip of the South Island. One of the many amazing places in an amazing place. We met this scruffy young kid on the beach who lectured us on which rare stones to look for. Of course, we had no clue what to look for. So he just reached into his pocket and gave us a handful. Pretty representative of our whole trip there. Kiwis rock!
