In world war 2 (1942), if you replaced all the German equipment with the 2002 USA Armed Forces equipment, would they be able to win the war?

EI all GE - infantry get m16's all panzershreks/pazerfaust are Javelins/LAW, v1 and v2 are Cruise and Tomahawk missiles etc…

Subs are Nuclear powered etc...

tigers are turned into M1A4's

what happens?

Are the Allies still using WWII equipment? If that is the case, if the Germans didn't win then something is wrong. But even if the Allies are using WWII equipment, how long would it be till they are able to copy it, or would the war be over by then? Would the German's have our modern day type of Navy and know how to use it? If they could keep the US off the Continent that would not be good for the Allies. You're talking about a 50+ year leap in weapons technology. As it was, some of their stuff was about 5 years ahead ( I think).

I've got a better question.

What if, when Krypton exploded, Superman would have landed in Bavaria in the 1920's instead of Indiana and had been raised a Hitler Youth. Kinda scary huh? :D

Sorry, Egg, I just couldn't resist being a smart a*s.

ok ok
Allies get WW2 equipment.

Germans get the Modern day equipment forever.

Their airforce, navy, and army all get replaced.

This has to be a trick question! If the Germans didn't win with the new equipment (they had chances with their old equipment) then Hitler should be shot for incompetance.

I have a even better question:
What if the Germans only had brozne age weapons. Kar 98K a short sword, mg 42 recurved bow, nebelwurfer catapult, etcetc.

sorry i too couldn't resist

Is the replacement at a one to one ratio of pieces of equipment built? In other words, if the germans built 1000 Pzkfw IV that means they get 1000 M60s and 500 Panthers = 500 M1A1?
Or is the replacement 1:1 in regards to resources available...

I think jerry would be hard pressed to find enough depleted uranium for the ammo for one M1A1, much less their whole panzerwaffe...

I think that for this to have much effect, the Germans would also have to have the improved intel and communications available to a modern US force... satellite imaging would have helped out prior to kursk, that is certain...

It's really a moot point however... had the germans had 1990's equipment in the late 1930's, we all know that there would simply be another indiana jones movie, involving a beautiful young female co-star, snakes, and indy involved in a running tank battle in an abrams across the deserts of libya. And the world would be safe from nazi schemes once again...

Why wouldn't the Germans be using 2002 GERMAN military equipment??? Leopard IIs instead of Abrams?

I've read some Japanese comics where the Japanese are using modern equipment to fight WW2. But all of it is US made, which begs the question - 'If the Japanese start winning, then wouldn't the modern US equipment they're using start disappearing? Since the US would lose the war, that equipment would never be made.'

Oh dear, I've gone cross-eyed.

And thus, you see the peril of "what if" questions.

On a related topic....

If you like alternate history, Harry Turtledove writes some decent series.

The Worldwar trilogy has alien invaders attacking Earth during 1942. The alien weapons seem to be near future (early 21st century). The fun part of the book is the race to stop the invasion by reluctant allies, the search for the atom bomb, and the aliens inability to deal with human warmaking tactics. Pretty light reading, and it gets a bit long, but lots of fun.

The only other book I read by him was called Guns of the South . I picked it up based on the cover picture. Robert E. Lee holding an AK-47 :D

here's a link to his website:

Give em any gear you want.

As long as Monty Python is defending with the world's most dangerous joke who cares what they are sitting in when they die laughing.

Of course if the Germans are using modern American gear, would it be safe to assume they are also using modern Neo Nazis too?

But the most important question is, why would the Americans sell it to them in the first place?
Hey you said you wanted to give them modern American gear after all.

Then again if they were equipped with American gear logically they would be American allies.
Which of course would mean there wasn't about to be any war (gotta have an enemy first eh).

WWII Germany with 2002 weapons

If you're assuming the Germans have 2002 weapons and 2002 logistical support, almost certainly they would win. They came close to achieving a stalemate as it was with limited population,
industrial capacity and natural resources.:D

No, because the Allies would have the weapons of 2340 AD and would be able to blast the Jerries from orbit.

Smack me if I am out of line, but Egg have you not noticed how all our replies are "intentionally" idiotic?

Apologies if this comes off sounding anti social, but your original comment, the thread starter, well, it was an idiotic question at best.

I mean reeeeeally, the supposition that the Germans might have won with modern US equipment, well that ain't a what if, it's pure fairly tale.
Modern US equipment would render the Allies 100% impotent. M1A2 versus Char B1 no contest.
F15 vs Spitfire no Contest.
Nuclear Sub vs the Hood no contest.
B1b versus any city on the planet, no chance of survival for the city.

Why not ask if they could have won with The One Ring.
How about replacing Hitler with Conan the Barbarian.
Or maybe a few nasty red dragons from the film Reign of Fire.

Would German be able to win with the Starship Enerprise?

You have to admit, the guys have been fairly nice not saying anything flippant till this point.

Well Egg is polite but I wonder if he is reading what we are reading:)

Oh well, all I have ever seen posted by Egg leads me to think he lives in his own world to some extent.

But no one will say he can't post pointless posts here:D
