Loading Land Based Air onto Ships?

I recently got this game but I am having trouble loading land based air onto ships as cargo. I have a pursuit squadron in San Francisco with 17 planes. When I try to load it onto some cargo ships the game keeps asking me to add more and more ships to the task force. Do I need one ship per plane or is it two or what. In the load screen the "Task force load safety factor:", in red which reads, 0% percent troop space and 14,000% cargo space. If I add another ship the cargo space number goes up. The Task Force Load Safety factor works great for loading troops but it seems wonky for loading land based air. If I max out the number of ships the TF Load Safety factor line stays red and the cargo percent is 21,000%!! I need to get fighters to Pearl. If I use an air transport TF I get the same result.

What am I doing wrong??

It is one squadron per ship. make sure you are dock! Some ship will not take planes like the AE.[:)]

I am trying to use AK and xAK, but I am using the troop loading button. Do I dock the a TF then use the transfer to ship button in the squadron screen. I seem to have tried but will try again.

I tried docking the TF, both a cargo and air transport, and no joy. I can not load this squadron onto this TF!! The squadron HQ is Hawaii so this should not be a problem or is it?

Troop load button is correct. Taskforce must be docked.

The troop load safety factor is at 0% because troop space is not needed to load airgroups. Only cargo space is required. Ignore the fact that the text is in red. Just go ahead and click on the "accept load" button. You should see that the airgroup is loaded and the taskforce is now loading supplies into the remaining cargo space. Be aware that airgroups load immediately, which is different to how LCUs load where most of the LCU load is pending until the execution of the turn.

Hope that helps!

So your load and move in the same turn? I can undock the ship, after I have loaded the air group and head out? I like the idea with land units having to be in strategic mode, number of days to pack up. But air groups are not handled that way?? Strange!!?

It all evens out in the end. When the planes are offloaded, they are all damaged. Depending on the level of supply and the airfield level, it might take awhile to repair the planes. If you load them into an AKV, they will offload in the same state they were loaded.

I've had no problems. I use an AK ship in a transport TF.
Use Load troops and make sure the squadron is not a restricted command, (R) after
the commands name.
