Magical Mystery Japanese TF teleportation!!

I am playing vs the AI and it's 12/17/41 and a Japanese TF magically appeared at Point Victoria. The Japanese captured Point Victoria on the 15th. Now I still own Singapore and saw no ships transit up there. When I go to a head to head option and I check where that TF is heading I find out it's a single ship going south around Australia through the central pacific to Singora, which is 3 hexs down from Point Victoria but on the other side of the isthmus.
I have the save games for before and after, but where do I send them. I am going to run the previous turn again and see if the TF reappears.
Addendum: I re-ran the turn before and no TF appeared in Point Victoria. Go figure. The AI must have a call AK function and they just appear.

And all AIs in all games cheat. It's just that you end up seeing the cheats sometimes in this game.

Euro kidding me?
Seriously, is there any possible way that the AI could have done this legally?

Which is why "AI" is a misnomer. There is nothing "intelligent" about an AI. It's job to give the "appearance" of directed activity by doing a lot of things (that often make no sense when examined closely)..., and "cheating" in order to maintain some semblance of a challange. [8|]

So all the PBEM fanboys come out to have a bash.
PBEMers probably use gamey tactics just as often as the AI uses its "advantages".
What scenario are you playing, if an ironman scen it may have been scripted to annoy you.
I havent seen this in tens of AI games.

I've seen it a couple of times in scen 1 as well as DaBabes. It's a bit annoying, but there are worse things in the world.
Not everyone can commit to playing PBEM. If you need to take a month off with a game in progress, the AI doesn't care whereas a human opponent would probably be unhappy. Other people like the ability to churn through several turns in a sitting rather than wait a day or two between turns.
Different people play games for different reasons. The PBEM fanboys are probably more numerous and definitely more vocal on the forum, but polls done by Matrix have found a large majority of players are mostly AI or AI only players.

Actually it doesn't cheat. Cheating is breaking the rules. The AI has different rules from human players. It needs them to give some semblance of a challenge to the human player. You can choose to accept that as a fact of life when playing against predetermined code, or you can choose to play against another human, who has to play by the same rules as you do. (HR's negotiated, of course)
What makes anyone look like a fool is choosing to complain that "the game AI cheats" when all it's doing is trying it's best (the programmer's best) to provide some type of challenge in place of a human opponent. [:D]

I certainly hope the AI cheats. Without such cheats and without self-imposed rules (like no port attacks on Truk, the home islands and some other bases by anything other than CVs) it would be even easier to walk all over it.
Cheers,
CC

Thanks for standing up for us. Some of us get really tired of the constant condescending letures from the PBEM fanbois.
I might add that the AI will never be the kind of POS excuse for a decent human being who quits in a huff when his gambit fails. The AI will remain true and fight to the end. It trumps a human anyday.

Hey Jeff. I would really like you to show me where my comment says ANYTHING about AI vs. PBEM play? [&:][&:][8|]

At first my immediate reaction to this remark was inflation had suddenly become unbounded. After some further thought though I now believe this to be a game within the game.

I think Andy Mac did a very good job and put in alot of hours. If the AI disgusts you that much, you take a turn.

LOL!! This thread sure drew some flak!!
But seriously any of the designers watching the forum anymore or are we cut lose on our own? I'll hang on to the save games. Calling transports to a location was an ole Pacific War function. I would if that bit of code survived.

Don already explained it. The AI is allowed to cheat on certain aspects. That the AI is not "SKYNET" (which too me is a comfort....be careful what you wish for Mankind), is more dead than the most beaten down horse.
If one thinks they've discovered a glitch/bug vs. an AI cheat.....they should post it on the Tech sub-forum.

I've complimented Andy's efforts in far too many posts to pay attention to your nonsense Nik. But the term "intelligence" is a misnomer when used to refer to an AI. No matter how many interesting scripts Andy writes, the AI will not be
intelligent. It can't think, it can only react in predetermined ways.
