Hi guys,
Nenad here, lead graphics artist for Unity of Command.
I just wanted to share the final version of UoC cover design with you. It's right fresh out of our workshop and we'd be happy to hear what you think. Feel free to comment.
Also, if you happen to have questions regarding any other visual aspect of the game - just fire away. I'll do my best to answer it.

Very nice indeed, looking forward to this as I haven't bought a game in years as new releases have been so disappointing. I wonder though how many people actually buy the boxes anymore?[:)]

Yeah, it's predominantly for the virtual box in digital stores. However there will be a limited physical box edition for the remaining few oldschoolers [:)]
Regarding disappointment; I hear you and I know exactly what you're talking about. This is a gaming niche with very loyal following and every new title is met with great expectations and eagerness. And some titles seem to rely on this fact a tad too much.
We didn't want to follow that "approach". So we undertook a really extensive research of hex igougo titles past and present to see what made them tick. We tried to distill everything good and build upon it while discarding the cumbersome and annoying things stuck in the genre legacy. This may raise some brows but I can only suggest you try the game to see how it works as a whole.
Right now I'm skimming once again through our non-public beta forums. There are about 70 first-impressions threads from corresponding number of different people. Each one of them is basically stating that the game went above their initial expectations. In many cases, way above. We were actually slightly baffled with such reactions ourselves. The testers' NDAs will expire a few days prior to release and I'm sure many of them will be happy to share their firsthand experiences for you to decide if UoC is worth your attention.

I'm not typically into this kind of thing, but it's a really interesting brief article as I had no idea how these things were put together. Very much looking forward to this. [:)]

I'm glad you found it informative. The intention was to give at least a glimpse of what's behind the final result without going into much technicalities.
