Army.. Corp decisions

Just got the game and my head has been spinning for one month just understanding the basics. I'm learning from the Axis point of view and see that army organization is the soul of the game. 41-45 game in AGC the 4th Army..(blue) has a corp with one and another with two divisions. With a max of 8 CP per Corp is it best to fill out each Corp with 4 divisions or keep them small ???? Obviously you want the best leaders at the helm so it makes sense to have them with the larger Corps, but how about it ??? It seems best to take the divisions attached to OKH or ArmyHQ and attach them to Corp. Q-Ball's AAR "Clash of Steel" he talks about putting his best divisions under a single Corp for the 42 summer campaign. But it seems early in the game to mix the good with the bad to help the weak sisters win battles and gain in experience..??? No ??? In attacking..is it best for the Corp HQ to be stacked with it's divisions ??? Is Corp support more likely to occur if they are closer ??? For determining how many MP's a division has for a turn, is there a greater chance for the max if it is stacked with its Corp HQ ??? Is there is a penalty when divisions from different Corps attack, whether they are stacked together or not ???

With a max of 8 CP per Corp is it best to fill out each Corp with 4 divisions or keep them small ????   No max them out first.  As the game goes on you'll just keep getting more and more divisions and soon you will have to many and you'll have to stuff them in where you can.

Obviously you want the best leaders at the helm so it makes sense to have them with the larger Corps, but how about it ???  I would think about putting your best leaders in your 'assault' corps.  Ones you know where you want to keep the drive alive after the winter of 41/42.  If you have a sector of the front go quite and have a good leader there you think would do better in the active areas I would move him.  As for my personal choice, I rotate commands for a good portion of my corps.  I like to give my virtual commanders virtual combat experience [:D]

No ???   As far as what Q-Ball does it pretty save to assume he is doing the right thing.  He really gets the game strategy IMO.  As far as the weaker divisions, such as Jager divisions, I would just make sure there not a bunch together, you have the right idea IMO.

In attacking..is it best for the Corp HQ to be stacked with it's divisions ???  Definitely not!  That space is better off with another assaulting unit.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong but Corps are good for 'command coverage' as long as its with 5 hexes.  I don't know what what it is in movement points but as long as your attached divisions are highlighted in blue when the HQ is selected your good to go.

Is Corp support more likely to occur if they are closer ???   No, as long as your in your command coverage your good.  Try and place a Corp in a good position for your next turn.  Don't move it if you plan on making hasty attacks.  That way you get a chance to get SU's from it during your attacks.

For determining how many MP's a division has for a turn, is there a greater chance for the max if it is stacked with its Corp HQ ???  I don't believe so.

Is there is a penalty when divisions from different Corps attack, whether they are stacked together or not ???  Yes, when attacking with different corps from different armies you get small percentage penalties.  When you look at your combat report on the map you'll notice them labeled by the Corps that's getting penalties.

Carnage's answers are correct. Overall, just keep the Corps HQ within 5 hexes of it's divisions, and the units get full benefits. This includes the Support units, which will be assigned to support them in combat.

In 1941, don't spend alot of APs moving divisions from Corps to Corps. Save them. Just leave the command structure the way it is for the most part. You need to save alot fo APs for Blizzard to keep forts intact; like 300 at least. So, don't blow alot moving units around.

You could spend a few replacing leaders, but I would do that mostly in Panzer Corps. The Germans have pretty decent leaders already, so you don't need wholesale changes here.

It's really 1942 when you should spend more APs to move units around, and you may have different ideas for command structure

I think the big changes you need to make in 1941 as far as your structure goes is getting the divisions directly attached to armies to be attached to corps. I used to shift around divisions/corps, etc quite a bit but you really can't do that anymore if you hope to have the points to build a pile of forts in order to have any type of winter line. I still think you can do some work to fix the 11th army and Rumanian units there, but that may be the extent of what I do with those units. The only other thought would be to assign security forces directly to OKH to help ease the command burden on your army groups. I usually just assign the units directly to OKH (cheap) and disband the security HQs (very expensive to attach to OKH).
