Troops in transports disbanded

As first posted on the general forum.

On the ftp server: 2011-11-14-DisbandStart.zip

Just divert attacking fleets into friendly systems. Watch the invasion fleet starting with 4 transports and 12 troops. Put 4x speed and do nothing.

After some time, watch the troops in the invasion fleet disappearing. Fist to 10, then to 8. And then I stopped :)

I'll take a look at the savegame.

Tomorrow we have a patch coming out that addresses this problem (among other things).

In the meantime you could turn off automation for Troop Recruitment if you wish. This should stop this problem for you.

Good news about an early batch of little fixes. I will surely manage my troops myself. Those nasties will get what they deserves. Eventually.

Load the 1st game file, let time tick away without interfering - watch the troops dribble away.

Savegame date
12-05 => fleet 2 => 15 troops (picked up troops from planet then sent to sit idle at gas mine)
5-10 => fleet 2 => 6 troops (sitting idle - where'd the 9 troops go?)
9-22 => fleet 2 => 3 troops (down to 3)

You'll be pleased to know that after testing your savegame with the upcoming 1.7.0.1 patch, this problem is fixed - no more disbanding of those troops, because you have large cash reserves.

It seems from AlPhi that this is applicable to earlier DW versions, so it should also be rolled into the vanilla and RotS branches.

The beta patch improved things but has not cured the issue. I don't want him to disband my transport troops due to own stupidity.

I am filthy rich (but maybe not by everyone's standard). When I enabled the troop recruiter after installing beta patch, I was in the "green". But not for long. The AI hired tons of troops to make a 2-300k loss which was no issue at all. I have had a peaceful time, but want to war monger. I gather my invasion fleet, and see that all transports are reduced from 9 troops each to 2 troops each. Probably because some temporary lapse of bonus income or something.

Currently I have 2035 troops across 84 colonies. And room for just shy of 300 in my invasion fleet. The AI should avoid disbanding troops in troop transports as long as possible.

Basically, I think that the AI should never touch the troops on a ship that is not automated. That should be a simple fix.
