I am having problems in the battle portion of the game. The game will allow me sometimes to move and do what needs to be done but at some point the computer will take over and I am not allowed to do anything with regards to moving units. I then have to wait until the battle is over and inevitably I lose because I am locked out and it makes me have to end the game and restart.

That's bizarre. Is this problem still happening? I think that when a battle is lost there will be an automatic pursuit phase for a turn or two, but I don't recall anything like what you describe.

Did you order all your units to "sleep" to avoid having to cycle through them untill the enemy is near? I know I have done that once or twice, that will give the effect you describe.
