CS Problem - Creating / Editing Maps

Jason:

I am experiencing map resolution / display issues when I create or modify maps. [:@]

I will click on a map hex and the image will "jump" 1-2 hexes. It's like my cursor is over a "different" hex than what is displayed! [X(] I have to constantly "click" on every map hex for it to display correctly. Also, when I enable "map labels" and try to position the label over a specific hex... the label will actually display 5 - 10 hexes away from the position my cursor is on!

Obviously, this phenomena makes modifying or creating new maps nearly impossible!

But, I experience no map resolution / display issues when either playing or modifying existing scenarios!

Here's what I am running:

Windows 7 Professional
64-bit operating system
1600 x 900 screen resolution (I've tried adjusting the resolution to both 1280 x 720 and 800 x 600, but still have the described resolution issues)

Any help or suggestions on what different PC settings I can try would be greatly appreciated!

I battled with this problem for so long so I am going to copy my reply here as well:

This seems to be a "feature" some of the Windows 7 systems experience, but not all. I had the same issue from the sound of it, ie. only having this issue with Map Editor, but not with JTCS itself or Scenario Editor, even with same exact map file giving me problems in Map editor.

For me, the simple resolution was to disable desktop composition as mentioned in this thread: http://www.theblitz.org/message_boards/s...=windows+7

To be precise: 'In Vista™ if you experience an issue with the scrolling refresh during the game please go to the Properties of each shortcut and put a check in the box next to “Disable desktop composition” to resolve this issue'.

It resolved my W7 issues with Map Editor. Seems to be a Vista/W7 64 bit issue?

Hope this helps!
