question about dis-engaging

Is there a secret to dis-engaging from combat? couple of my units were stuck for just about the whole scenario. They ran into a enemy on the way to there objectives and were disrupted to level 3 and 4 and couldn't withdraw. I tried to change to withdraw posture, but they must of failed the quality check or something. you mean i can't just move away from the enemy during the movement phase? Do i need to change to another posture before attempting to move away, i think they were in attack posture, other than me trying to change into withdraw posture. I attempted to move with infiltrate, but that wasn't what i wanted to do, and it failed anyway so they took fire every turn and kept there disruption level. I was trying to disengage and go around and continue on towards the objective.
Thx for any insight.

I'm sure smarter guys than me will weigh in, but I still think this is a problem.
Withdrawal still does not work.

Yes you must switch to Withdrawal Posture.
"Wiithdrawal" works sometimes and not other times.
When you need it to work it never works but when you do a test with a view to posting it here it always works just fine [&:]

tried to switch to withdrawal posture, just never passed the quality check i guess. So i can infiltrate to the side of the enemy[when it works, it worked more than withdrawal] but can't go away from the enemy, interesting. I had 3 units get toasted because they stayed at level 4 disruption and refused to withdrawal despite numerous attempts and kept getting hammered and eventually poof there toast.
another time i was playing Guadalcanal as the japs, do they have any command linkage. Units were right by HQ's but for the whole scenario everyone was out of command and a handful of units were out of supply and i couldn't figure out why.Tried hitting the button to trace supply but there was no indication of any supply point. Learning as i go, but enjoying it none the less. Thx for your reply's.

I asked about this in the early days. Sometimes in clear terrain a unit near to it's HQ can remain out of command or out of supply for turn after turn.
Don't quite understand the mechanics here.

I'd agree with that! Withdrawal is better than it was but I still can't figure out why in a game sometimes it works and other times no-go.
The guadalcanal question has been asked before - but can't find the thread! However in this scenario there are 4 units (Nasu Force HQ, II/16, I/29 & I/124) that are not assigned to a HQ at the start of the game. It's possible to attach the rifle units to a HQ but you can't attach Nasu Force HQ to the Div HQ (I think the game thinks it's a Div HQ already?). This sets the game up with those units on limited supply which may have been the thinking of the map designer ... possibly.
Cheers
