Great just great. Got a good game goin and not a single technical issue and then this patch and CRASH! Something about couldn't handle exception error at such n such position. Been running with saves every hour but now I'm too scared of a crash again and don't want to lose an hour of time and it takes so long for the game to save. arghhhhh why can't games work anymore like they used to back in the 80's and early 90's?

Those games back then were never as good or as complex as modern strategy games..

This is a beta patch so you use it at your own risk.

Yeah I know but I've had 2 days of no hardware issues or freak crashes so I was getting use to the stability of it.

Could you give more info on the Crash in the Tech Support section of the Forum, and post a save game on our FTP as described here:
tm.asp?m=2415085
Hopefully we can find what caused the error and fix it before making the patch official.

Hi Neotheone,

The update is very stable here - the game in general has been quite stable since the release version. I've had one crash in the past week of test games. There can be many causes for crashes, but chances are good you won't see it again if you load from your last save. Still, setting your autosave to 10 minutes is a good idea if you are very averse to crashes.

I remember when it crashed. It was just after installing the newest beta patch and loading my most recent save. I was looking at those smileys in the colony window and noticing if I hovered my mouse over them then I would see numbers representing my reputation for each colony. Well when I "clicked" on about the 3rd one by most population that is when it crashed. Perhaps something in "clicking" these smileys caused it? At any rate I reloaded the same save after closing all my IE windows I had open (including this one) and it hasn't crashed again, Yet.

I remember a box popped up with that expection error not found wording divided by 0 something or other. I didn't write it down guess I should have. Being a beta I halfway expected something like this but have had 2 days of very stable play so it was surprising.

Edit: Btw I'm using Vista 64bit OS with quad core i7 ana ATI 5770 HD video card 1gb. I know Vista 64 isn't too popular nowadays so it may have something to do with that.

Well then you can save manually more often, so even if the error occurs while saving you won't be losing large chunks of play.

Yeah I cut back to 30 minute saves and it hasn't happened again so far. I've played another good 4 hours since the initial crash. I'm going to chalk it up to having too many IE pages open while playing the game. This game can be so addicting and time can fly by when you're not having issues. Even with everything on autopilot just watching the world turn into thousands of ants flicking around the screen can be fun. So far I'm doing taxes and research choices. I've thought about trying to design ships but talk about daunting looking.

Ok, I'm locking this one up as well to avoid confusion as we would like as many people as possible to try the public beta update.
