because these guys have to carry the ball for IJN in the all-important early going. Their success or failure dictate the outcome not only of MO, but pretty much the course of the rest of the campaign (I just can't seem to get into playing short scenarios. When you've got a good thing going, "more is better" for me, I guess). Anyway, S and Z, fast, nimble, and carrying those hotshot air groups, are a huge pain in the Allied butt. When you consider how little the Japanese really have to work with on May 1, '42 to carry out their ambitious plans, these two bad boys definitely have their work cut out for them (with a little help from the Slow Ho).

I even feel a particular affinity for them when I'm playing the Allies and trying to find 'em and stick holes in em.

Woe be to the IJN player who sees the rolling flames and billowing clouds of smoke emanating from these two ships in May or June '42.
