Character files... clarification requested.

If I want a bunch of characters under the Republic, and the Republic is basically human, I want the characters under
human.txt
BUT
Does that not also mean that EVERY human civilization spawned will have the same cast of characters?
AND if so,
if I want JUST the Republic to have these characters (and to be basically human), I will need to define the Republic as a different race from humans and have two separate character files
human.txt
republic.txt
Do I have this correct, or does ObiWan need to remind me to stay away from death sticks? [:)]

Also bear in mind that making a 'mixed' race is now easy. Define the race in the races text file with stats that are average of the 2 or more races you want to combine, but in the character files, you can over-ride the race file with a different race for the character.
For example, if I want a Sluken defector in a human empire, in the human character file I can define a character in the list as Sluken in the character race over-ride slot and point to the sluken character picture.
So for a SW mod, you can define each race individually, but when it comes to 'Rebel Alliance' you can make characters from all the races combined together.

Thank you: that is a very useful piece of technical advice. Thank you very much! [8D]

This leads to a follow on question:
Using your folk's examples, I could in essence define a race, set it up with 3 'no' to these questions:
' 1- Expanding: indicates whether this race will colonize new planets or not (Y/N). Set this to 'N' to create a static empire that does not colonize
' 2- Can be Pirate: indicates whether this race can be a pirate faction or not (Y/N)
' 3- Playable: indicates whether this race can be selected by the player as their empire's race at start of game or not (Y/N)
And then USE that race just as feeds for characters???
I am not sure if there is any advantage to it... but I am thinking for like droids in the SW universe, I do not want droid empires or droid pirates, but I might want droids for characters...
Is my thinking correct?

For general colonization it works as a free one planet race, but try to lovely colonize these people... Imperium tried...

A character "feed" is unnecessary and impossible. Just prepost them with a droid picture in the characters theme of that race.

Actually a race exists in the game with three no's. The Ancient Guardians...
I don't think it would accomplish what you hope.

Also TJ, the race (and its characters) become obsolete once their planet/colony is
conquered by another faction. I'd also bet at that point you might start getting
'exception' errors and crashes as well. Just my opinion!
