I have not a clue, but I loved it and I am sure someone will figure it out. It comes from this excellent site:

It is their default "page not found picture"

If that boat ain't the Potemkin, it bloody well should be.  Or the Bellipotent after a final countdown.

Thank You! Not the tightest ship I've ever seen.

I always liked Sousa's " Semper Fidelis March" the best.

Just a bit more detail :
Grimy bandsmen on board the battleship during coaling, at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, January 1912.

I have no reason to know this but I assume coaling was a long dirty operation and the band probably played to provide some sort of entertainment for the sailors doing the heavy lifting

No Christmas nor American but I always found "Flower of Scotland" stirring and inspiring. I don't think there is a man on earth that would not put on a kilt, fix a bayonet and charge into the teeth of enemy if they hear this played properly on the pipes. Here is a pretty good version:

Better to get the Pipe major to whistle up "Craigielee"

Merry Christmas to all except those Americans who are crippled by PC, "Happy Holidays" to them.
