Blank sheet start

Could a kind and clever modder (have to flatter a lot [&o] ) be interested in developing a mod to allow to start from scratch without any ship, any designs, research from scratch, no mining stations, no construction ships, nothing at all but one naked home planet. Obviously this should be the same for all empires (AIs). Would be great to create a world from scratch. All designs are mine, all decision are mine and this from day-one.

I though about this too and wanted to try something like this for starter, unfort the formulas wont work otherwise you have to change the formluas for income for low population. Wont get much or get anywhere less than 500m pop and that can take many years to grow without going bankrupted. If you wanna try it, besure to give them plenty of credits to start with. They (AIs) will build so many ground troops at the beginning and will go bankrupt!
Dont think that will work, since the tech trees is limited and most details that can be coded or changed are hard coded and cant change them. Only have limit what you can do, unless they come up with another expansion and move all the codes that can be modded in the furture, unless they dont want us to mess with it.

Can get most of this by just using the editor. Start a game [optional - all empires havie harsh home systems (approx 4000m pop)]. Delete all ships and bases. Go to design screen and delete all designs. As far as I am aware you cannot touch the techs so you will only be able to have normal starting techs. Starting credits can be adjusted to whatever you want (even zero since there is no upkeep). You might have to put up with the private sector having whatever balance the random game generates.
Simple enough to get someone else to do this for you and send you the savegame so you have no knowledge of the galaxy. You would have to specify you startup settings though (galaxy size, pirates, etc.). [:)]

Well, if there is a volunteer I'd be grateful...
My ideal game is:
galaxy shape: irregular
large universe 1000 stars 10*10 sectors
expansion starting
difficulty normal
Aggression normal
colony prevalence normal
research costs normal
independent alien life normal
space creature few
pirates few and distant
my race humans
home system normal
size starting
tech level starting (no pre-warp available

)
corruption normal
government democracy
8-10 empires
Allow independent colonies to start empires
victory conditions: none: sandbox mode (open play)
So if someone wants to create it ... to me it seems a huge work but apparently it's not for those who know how to do it ...
Thanks in advance !

Okay. I'll do it in the next hour or so. Let me know (either here or via PM) an email address to send it to.
Think of it as a late Xmas present...

That not too bad, (almost the samn) since i got mine alittle more complex...
galaxy shape: irregular
large universe 1400 stars 15*15 sectors
expansion starting
difficulty normal
Aggression normal
colony prevalence very rare (not many habitable planets!)
research costs expensive (480k)
independent alien life normal
space creature few
pirates few and distant
my race Shakturis (custom Aliens)
home system normal
size starting
tech level starting
corruption normal
government The Way of Darkness
6 empires, included the humans
Allow independent colonies to start empires
victory conditions: none: sandbox mode (open play)
I manage to renamed my home system (Antares) and wanted to start at the very bottom, middle or right corner. All ships, bases as well private ships been deleted. Everything was custom made for my Aliens, sadly it been thirty years passed and no carbon fiber found within 40+ systems. My Aliens started in desert planet. At the beginning, only allowed small freighers to be operational til carbon fibers is found. Within ten years i manage to colonize one planet nearby for extra pops, and its desert planet. After that i made oversize passenger ships that hold up 14,400 passengers with good range and speed. So i didnt want to expand too quickly, will drain the carbon fiber reserved and fuel can dry up pretty fast too. Kept refitting my station at the home planet with max tech (no bonus planet nearby). Each gas/mine stations are pretty tough with over 1k shield strength, 500 armor, 300+ damage along with three fighter groups.
So far im really enjoying playing this, bumped into couple pirate bases manage to make cruiser hull with three fighter groups along with four escorts to remove pirates and critters nearby my barn.

It's in the mail. Let me know if there are any difficulties.
Be interested in hearing how the computer players cope. [:)]

Couldn't resist to launch it. Wow !!! looks great ! An empty universe ! I hope this will run smoothly. I should try again to play with the editor ... but for now, let's build a civilization and conquer the galaxy !

"Nuxxkk's Nightmare" is the mod's name ... My only one small port and mining station have just been rampaged by some wandering Ardilus. I am trying to build a new space port, then a military ship to protect our workers. This is definitely Nukkxx's nightmare, no doubt ! [:(] [X(] [8|] [:D]

Ok so first issue I notice from my modest newb point of view is that the civilian designs should not be erased unless you have personal designs already saved in your directory. But so far, and apart this, the "mod" looks good. I had a really epic start ! my first small step in the space was a giant leap for anxiety !
PS: Still not sure about resources however. Needs more time.

The game gives you warnings when certain roles have no (non-obsolete) instance in the design screen. All it means is that the automation is relying on there being a design of that type when it wants to build. This is necessary for civilian ships (if you want them to build) but only for the other parts if you have them automated. For example there is no problem not having any mining base designs if you build them manually... I always fill out the categories just to get rid of the annoying warning... In this game you might want to leave your civvies vacant at the beginning - there will be no point having a freighter until a mining base has something to collect, no point in having a passenger ship for some time... You probably want your miner/gas miner out and gathering as soon as possible.
An Ardilus come to visit, how cool is that. [8D]

Hehe I got the ardilius visiting too. Got three statbases killed before I got the idea to build a skeleton base with minimum requirerment. Then fastly build escorts. And then some base defences. Now when my fighter come on line (newly researched) I killed it.
And now I can focus on the rest of the galaxy

.
Happy new year all

I'm playing a blank sheet game in a 15x15 1400 stars and at the end of the first year the price of Caslon and Hydrogen has risen to 1.9 and 1.8 respectively. Are there resource squeezes in the games you are playing?
Just in case you think me cruel - the Ardilus was totally random. I did not even know it was there. Pirates could be a pain at the start too... [:'(]

Hm, so a month later both Caslon and Hydrogen hit 2.5 on the galactic market. (Steel is at a modest 1.0.) I laughed thinking I just might have to pay a bit more for refueling... until I went to order a colony ship which is usually 7500 credits and the *******s in the shipyards are going to charge me 14500. All but a couple of hundred credits of this is due to the hydrogen price. I can't see this changing for quite some time since at this stage of the game I have the only developed source of Caslon and Hydrogen in the galaxy... I am not short of fuel (and probably won't be) but seeing as it will be many years (even decades) until I have contact with the galactic community it won't be going anywhere except into my own fuel tanks. To be honest I am not sure where all this demand is coming from - all empires have more than enough to cover their own needs at the moment. [&:]

I dont know if it would help, but have you tried not putting that many fuel tanks on colony ship? If you are doing local colonization that is, then they woudlnt need to stock them up with fuel.
