I got the Senna DVD - Brilliant [8D]

On the military front I got two Corgi aircraft models:

A FAA Corsair (HMS Formidable 1944). Not my favourite WWII aircraft but asked for this because my mum (who died at the start of the year) sailed back to the UK on board that carrier having completed her nursing stint in Australia during the war [&o]

A Bristol Blenheim. Read Holland's Battle of Britain in the summer and felt desperately sad for the crews who were asked to fly this aircraft, both during the BoB and the fight to save the Low Countries earlier [:(]

I must have been a good boy this year! Thanks Father Christmas [:)]

I got Die Hard collection, and couple of good books.

But the most important is that we have got X-mas in our new house. Thats the best gift.

I'd rather like to tell what I gave. Everyone got a $20 bill from me (all my nephews and nieces)... except one, whose card I forgot to put money in and they were laughing about it, because he was looking around with a look as if to say, "What happened?"

I slipped my brother a $20 and told him to give it to his son. I hope he remembers!

I was on-call during Christmas weekend, and I received the greatest gift an IT guru can get: no pages! [8D]

Santa was very kind to me, too. I got a Nook Tablet. It's a fantastic e-reader and excellent for watching Netflix & Hulu. But for other things like web browsing and apps, it falls short because of a relatively small-ish screen and an unwieldy browser interface.

Posting this from my new kindle fire. No its not an Ipad, but as a media device for me its a perfect compromise between the Ipads bulk (and its my wife's) and my Droid phone's tiny screen. Fits perfectly in my hand and using a stylus eliminates any problems with screen control. The new update fixed most of it, but the carosel is still a bit kludgy with a finger. The browser is very similar to chrome and while noticeably slower loading graphic intensive web pages, than the Ipad its not annoyingly so to me. Video streams fairly smoothly with 2 or 3 glitches in the big bang theory episode iwatched. The lack of a camera is feature not a bug for me as the base I work at makes you keep camera devices in your car. The only things that disappointed me is stupid volume control that can be a pain to access in some apps and the lack of a micro SD slot. The former will likely get fixed in software, the other I'll have to use for a while to see if it is an issue. Overall I give it 4 of 5 stars.

Yeah, it's a couple of thousand pages, not including the appendices. I've been reading about the campaign since I was in junior high-school, and have routinely come across references to Playfair and The Official History. It was originally published long, long ago by "His Majesty's Stationary Office," but has since been resurrected by the Naval & Military Press (UK).

Anyway, thank you Santa!

A lot of rain and more rain and a pet rescue at 2 am on Boxing Day morning, never seen so much lightning and the loudest thunder ever, but at the end of it, it doesn't matter coz I had a wonderful Christmas lunch/dinner whatever, with my wife and two teens, good food and the best company on Christmas day, what else does one need [:D] Travel safely all Matrixlites over the festive break and make it your single aim to get to your destination safely.

A book by William G. Thomas, "The Iron Way: Railroads, the Civil War, and the Making of Modern America". Looks impressive.

Naval and Military press are a superb publisher and any serious wargame or Military enthusiast must go see what they have and own as many titles as possible.

They also send you a monthly paper with many of the books mention and new lines as well.
