Doe the Extended Map and Stacking Limits work with the AI on BabesLite-B?

Hi

I am thinking if starting a BabesLite-B Scen026 (Dec. 7 start) which has the extended map and stacking limits.

However not entirely sure that this scenario (+ ext map and stacking limits) works with the AI as there is no mention of AI on the download page (unlike BabesLite-A where it is specifically mentioned).

Anyone able to clarify this for me please?

Many thanks

aslo

I have been playing around trying to install all this - you can tell the extended map has installed fine but how do you tell the stacking limits are there - i clicked on a hex and it doesn't display any stacking limit info - does this mean i haven't installed it properly or is it just not displayed?

thanks again

Stacking limits definitley wont as AI was not written that way

Extended map maybe as AI is based on bases not co ords

With all due respect to Andy, his answer is not complete.

You can play BabesLite with Stacking Limits and on the Extended Map with no effect whatsoever on the AI.

Stacking Limits only effect the human player. The AI does not recognize Stacking Limits and does not use them. But Stacking Limits are there to guard against the use of gamey mega-stacks. The AI does not use gamey mega-stacks, so having Stacking Limits would not disturb it in any case.

The Extended Map adds some areas and bases that are marginal to the AI as a player, but has possibilities for a human player. The AI does not know of these bases (just as it does not know of hundreds of others). The existence of these bases is irrelevant to the AI and frankly, irrelevant to a human player, except in a purely time-limited, tactical context.

Yes. You can play BabesLite with Stacking Limits and on the Extended Map with no effect whatsoever on the AI (for either side).

if true great but first I heard AI is exempt from stacking levels

Please think about what the OP is asking before responding.

The OP was asking whether the Stacking Limit data files are useable with the AI. They are.

The AI does not recognize the Stacking Limit data items defined by Andrew/John/Michael. And does not need to, as described above.

The AI recognizes the "Island Size" stacking limits that are part of the game engine, and to which the modded Stacking Limits data files default to in the absence of affirmative Stacking Limits on a hex basis.

This has all been explained before.

OK not sure I am understanding correctly and I may have totally misunderstood but I couldnt find the thread where this was debated.

If the AI is immune to the effects of Stacking levels even when playing a player that is subject to SLs and I have missed it then yes their will be no impact on the AI and its fully ok and can be played as normal and Matt is 100% correct

If the AI is not immune to the effects then the game will technically work but there will be major implications when playing the AI which would make it difficult to play a long term game as the AI will fall over from lack of supply.

Matt are you 100% sure the AI is exempt from the impacts of being overstacked - if you are then I was wrong and you are right.

A few of the implications (by no means exhaustive if the AI is not immune are below)

1. Trigger bases for AI scripts will be always overstacked and the AI will suffer the penalties leading to heavy supply reduction e.g. for Japan Truk/Osaka/Tokyo/Rabaul/PI/Singapore/Rangoon

2. Bases like Tokyo and SF which are AI dump bases for units until they need them 'may' end up overstacked unless they have been set to unlimited ??

3. The AI was not crafted with SL's in mind so in some cases especially where a player makes a stand the AI will mass forces above the SL and suffer the penalties - e.g. if the sweeper routines kick in to make sure the 10 must have bases are captured

4. AI Garrisons may also be overstacked in smaller bases in bad terrain - e.g. borneo, sumatra, some of the burmese bases

I have not had time to test after my IT meltdown has anyone ran an AI v AI test to check whether or not their are AI implications ?

Andy,

If the AI is set to "Very Hard" do the AI units need supply at all?

Units do but not as much but air units and industry will need supply

However running at Very Hard would mitigate most of the supply implications if the AI is not immune

My presumption based on Matt's statement above is that it is immune although I cannot see where it was put in
