AVG will not up grade!!

I started a thread on the main forum to see if someone else has this problem. My AVG units will not up grade. I have one squadron with zero planes and I have to ship it out of Rangoon, because it won't transfer out of Burma. It appears my only option is to disband them.

You have way too few P-40Es in pool to upgrade unit that is set to permanently withdraw/disband. If it was not with P, you could.

There are 12 P-40E's, look behind the black box. I have upgraded other units that have more planes, say 10 to 15, to only 3 or 4 of the newer models. But the AVG doesn't do it!

But you need 27 planes. If unit is set to permanently withdraw, you can't partially upgrade that unit.

What Puhis said, you'd need minimum pool number of nominal strength to upgrade unit with that"P".

Once again, a unit that is scheduled to withdraw has to have its max number of aircraft in the pool to do an upgrade. A unit that is not scheduled to withdraw can be upgraded with 1 aircraft.

some groups you need full amount of planes to upgrade, others don't
I don't know why. Maybe there are some restrictions on the the groups that need be withdraw.

To prevent a player from gaming the system by upgrading a unit due to withdraw with one or two obsolete planes right before withdrawal in order to strip all of the aircraft out of it....Like said above, it only will happen with units due to disband or withdraw. All others should present no problems.

I believe we clued him in to the requirement for the pool to contain an amount equal to the maximum squadron size for squadrons set to withdraw in the other thread he started.
I even showed him how the system can still be "gamed" to a certain degree by canabalizing other squadrons to fill the pool with sufficient numbers.
not sure why he felt another thread to beat the dead horse was necesary......

No .. that's not why I asked. Since I could update one squadron without a minimum number I was perplexed why I couldn't do it with the AVG units. An you condescending attitude is not appreciated, especially since it only serves to boast your ego.
Puhis; An I didn't notice the "P", which I assume is buried in the rules some place.

look I'm sorry if I came across as condescending.
it just get's a bit tedious pointing out the same things repeatedly.
squadrons with a withdrawl date can't upgrade until the pool has sufficient numbers to equal the maximum plane count of the squadron.
all of the squadrons of the AVG have withdrawl dates.
of the "possibles" causes of failure to upgrade listed in the fly out highlight in your screenshot the top one "insuffcient number in pool" (can't remember the exact wording) is the winning answer
to upgrade AVG squadrons you have to get them to a level 7 airfield with 20k supplies AND you have to wait until the pool has sufficient numbers. as I mentioned before, you can manipulate the pool numbers to a certain degree by canabalizing other squadrons.....
I hope the many offers of assistance in understanding the game rules and mechanics you have received from other players who simply want to help without being taken to task over the manner in which they offer that help does some good for you.......
have fun with the game

Very good explanation Hans. My tired old memory forgets the thousands of issues that have been surfaced in the various threads on the WITP-AE board.
Thank you for taking the time once again.

BTW I am saving this in a tip file.
