What can you tell me about port supply?

Except for tracing supplies over the Lake Ladoga zone, a port hex that borders a sea zone that allows strategic naval transport (i.e Baltic/Black Sea/See of Azov/Caspian Sea) that has at least one friendly port connected to the supply grid via rail will be considered connected to the supply grid. However, only the port hex is connected. Tracing from this port hex for supply purposes to a hex or unit can be done along friendly controlled, undamaged rail hexes (even though these rail hexes are considered not on the grid), if not leaving an enemy ZOC, without increasing the hexes from the rail. The MP cost will be increased by 1 for each such hex traced. If the hex traced to is next to an enemy unit 1 will be added to both the hex count and the MP count. This represents limited use of rails in these circumstances and better communications lines/roads along rails, thus allowing supply (although somewhat less than normal) via ports connected via these major waterways.

I have the Axis in an unenviable position, and was wondering if someone could enlighten me on the ramification of port supply.

I understand that Crimean winter offensives typically stall because of rail not being repaired while increasing distance from the port. Does the port sourced supplies have any other bottlenecks? Does port damage affect overall supply throughput? What is the threshold that ceases port supply functioning? Is there a max limit of supply throughput based on naval movement allowance of the port?

Lot of looks, not a lot of comments.  Nobody knows?
I'm really curious how much damage it takes to 'knock out' a port for supply grid considerations.

Maybe a picture would help?

There are no limits to what can be supplied via a port (that will be very different in WitW). I don't recall if and when damage shuts down supplies to ports, but it's a very good question for the programmers.

How did you lose that huge section along the Polish border? You got bad guys in your rear? Might want to get rid of them.

I'm playing as the Soviet.
I'll be creating an AAR shortly.
